I looked over the depth chart on ramblinwreck.com and it wasn't up to date. It still had Shamire listed #1 RG. My guess is we shift Joe over to guard and Will Bryan starts at RT.

LT: Chambo
LG: Braun
C: Freddie
RG: Joe
RT: Bryan

Whatcha think?

The Shamire thing was really out of left field. We gotta do what we gotta do, I know, but it makes me nervous to have linemen playing positions they aren't used to. If the line is already having trouble remembering assignments, isn't that likely to throw gas on the fire?

I believe it was in the Monday or other presser that CPJ said Joe could play G or T and that Klock was moving back to T. Sounded strange at the time to report that but if he knew about Devine it makes perfect sense. The "cheese" lineup makes sense with Klock backing up the tackles and Brown the guards. We might also see Marshall at C and Burden (Spring Game) at RG. Seems all bases are covered pretty well to temporarily replace Devine.

Preseason, and anyone can go back and look, i called it that joe would slide to rg if the tackle at rt was better than the rg option. Now. That didnt happen. Until injury and it did.

A few things why i said this and why i like it
Joe played guard for us for years. He knows the spot
He has a good inside frame, guard is more physical. Requires a more physical kid which is hard to find in a youngun

The tackle spot often has second level responsibility and you option the end. So that spot is more movement....and i think a younger guy generally can do that with the challenge being the mind as much as anything. Its not the same physicality, but still i am nervous for a freshman. But easier than guard imo from the physicality side

I'm disappointed for Shamire and I hope we can get enough production out of Joe to overcome the problem. Joe was hurt himself just a week or two ago and hasn't looked completely up to snuff recently. I hope he has recovered enough to make the new line-up work.

If we can just get a win this week, we can get into our off week and have a chance to get a lot of players back and ready for the final run. This is the week that could make or break the season.

I thought like u he would lg and and shamire be rg with braun sliding over to rt. Add Chamberlain and burden would be the jumbo package.
Put in klock, bryan and shift braun back to lg for speed package.

Would love to see a special set of ab & bb aling with WELL PRACTICED CALLED PLAYS for the jumbo and the speed package.

Well, I hate to lose Shamire. That is for sure. But I will say this, I don't think Klock looked right for the RG position. He is a high effort kid, but he seems like a better fit at tackle to me. His speed is one of his better attributes and he is a little undersized for the inside. I am a little nervous about Joe at OG, but if he has experience there, then so be it. We may find out just how much Devine has quietly been doing for us at that position when he is out. Hopefully, there won't be a drop off and we move the ball well regardless.

Yes. And we can go full prairie dog no huddle hurry-up, so once you get your personnel on the field with an advantage, the defense can't substitute. Save it for UGA.

This is going to make things much more difficult.Remember who is their def coach--the blitz king himself. If our def does a "lesser" job we could be in serious trouble as the Off will struggle probably.

What I like is that against FSU we seemed to run more plays without the pause to check the sidelines. We have to do that to keep the D honest. Other wise they will always wait till after the Prairie Dog pause to show what they are really going to do.

One question for the more experienced. Does the Prairie Dog take away from OL communication in the huddle? It would seem that in the huddle the OL could talk some about the stunts they are seeing. But when they go straight to the line they can't. On the other side it keeps the D more on the back foot and tense longer which burns energy.

If bryan was next to devine this whole time i would agree we would find out more about devine, but now bryan is next to joe; so both are in new spots or new players so its not apples to apples. A RT can make a RG look worse and vice versa....So I am not totally sure we can just say "ah" look how good devine was.....I would hesitate any conclusions about any one player at a new spot when both spots on that side are "new" or not starters etc and they rely on each other so much....I just hope Joe is healthy enough for that position.

If Joe is not 100% or not effective we have the option of Burden at RG and Marshall at C so IMO we will be OK.

My guess is we see Brown today at RG before we see Burden move.

I would be most happy if Brown has developed to take that role. Nothing to date on this forum has indicated where his development has progressed. However, I would not be surprised as Lynch's development at AB was also totally unreported last season and that turned into a pleasant surprise.

Ken asked CPJ about Brown's readiness and coach said "he'll have to be...."
