Maybe it's confirmation bias or selective memory, but I can't remember an interview with a GT athlete where I cringe at what comes out of their mouth. Other schools, especially from that one conference from the Southeast (ahem), when their athletes get interviewed I'm usually like "wow...that dude is in college?!"
For the most part, I agree.

GT's guys are good at interviews because of the work they put in with Coach Crash Davis.

I've had this same thought countless times. The next thing in my train of thought is something like "Man! How do our coaches keep finding these polished, sophisticated young men who can also play a little football?"

Man, I never thought I'd want to track spring practice as much as I do this year. That's what a great season will do for your attitude.
Thanks to Eric and Company for providing us the info and this site.

This is always rampant with me when the season starts. Especially last year. Oh we started 2-0? Better read some stuff. 3-0? hope they write more about us. 4-0? Yea better add in another site to read baout us. 5-0? Stalking players twitters.

Lose a game? I don't want to read anything CFB related all week!

I've heard Sweeting in interviews before. He's well spoken. They just caught him off guard a little bit, and you also have to understand the context of the situation.

You can see CPJ laughing in the background afterwards.
Sorry, no way to sugar coat that one. Also, did you listen to him speak after the initial flub? Not exactly eloquence personified. DJ White as a public speaker is a rare bird, even at a school known for academics. That said, we probably have more of those birds than most schools.

CPJ has said several times he doesn't worry about who on the team goes up for interviews because he knows they're all good kids. He lets the media choose and he sends them up.

DJ should really make some waves this year. With a year even close to what he had last year along with his speaking abilities I don't see a reason he can't get drafted in the top 3 rounds. I suspect he'll be a combine warrior too. If they put James Conner at the finish line of the 40 he could be in the 4.2s

I'll stick with my original statement on this. Thanks.

The thing that jumped out at me in CPJ interview was his saying that our D had to play better. He talked about our opportune turnovers, but talked about statistics showing areas in need of improvements.

I still think our problems last year were beyond talent. I wish someone would ask CPJ about our D scheme and play calls. For example, why did we play against alignment instead of against personnel vs FSU? Shouldn't we have had DJ White on their #1 rx regardless of where he lined up?

I'm no expert, but these are the topics I'd like more information on.

It really is a good question, for a football guy to answer, but the receivers were so wide open in the first half John Dillinger couldn't have covered them. I don't know what Tech did in the second to lock them down, at least from the end zone.

I thought that was one of the detectives; my memory must be going.

I hope we can win a National Championship so that we can hear eloquent speeches in support of Tech such as that given on behalf of Florida ;) Sorry to hijack but the above made me remember how hard I laughed at this a few years back.

DJ had a good Sophomore year too...had 50 tackles and started 9 games. Don't forget how great he was against Ole Miss..had 13 tackles (11 solo), forced two fumbles and had a INT.

It was clear to see his talent level...but he did take a big jump his Junior year...Can't wait to see where he is at this year.
it was GREAT to see a guy blossom like we thought he could--- unlike a Louis Young who wilted in my opinion
