Singleton to Portal

One thing to note if playing time is important is that Texas does not make too much sense. They’ve been gobbling up elite WRs in recruiting that I’m sure have made it known they expect X amount of targets per game.

Guys,

I have to chime in regarding Singleton.

I'm glad to see Coach Key use NIL $'s for the lines (offensive and defensive) but lets not fool ourselves into thinking that this loss isn't a big deal.
I believe Robinson to the portal is more hurtful to the team but singleton is a player that occupies attention and allows others to get open with one on one coverage due to his speed.
I don't blame the kid at all for looking out for his future. You'd do the same thing as well.
Thank you for your two years on the flats. Felt the same about Gibbs to Bama.

This, unfortunately, is the new world of NIL and the portal.
In the end, football players need to be under contracts with salary caps, commitments, and possibly even bonuses, etc.
Win one for the ole gipper days are long gone!

It's now minor league football with no regulation or rules. Who would've ever imagined that the NFL would be a better product than college ball but let's just call it what it is and treat it for what it is ...

Farm system for the NFL

I said the same to my mutt buddies years ago in that you are nuts if you think Stetson and J. Davis give two rips about the dwags. It is ALL about getting paid now.
The secheat doesn't like this new world cause now they have to compete for dollars. Notice the top portal transfer last year, Caleb Downs, didn't go to uga as expected....He got purchased by OSU.

Welcome to minor league football

Good luck Eric Jr. Thanks for all your time here.
Minor league football suvks!

Lol. So then it’s not about the concept of “quitting on your team” at all. You’re just bitter you got dumped.

If you really thought it was about quitting, you wouldn’t want any “quitters” on your team, period.
You do fan your way, I’ll do it mine. If you wanna be a mercenary player fan, be my guest.

I've seen a couple of posters complain about Singleton catching. We underthrew him a number of times this year--King didn't have his full throwing range. Singleton has a speedster game where his best move is getting deep behind someone for an easy catch; not fighting for a contested catch.

$2MM @ 7% will yield you about $50k a year after taxes without touching the principal. If you own your own property and are relatively frugal, you can quite nicely exist on $50k/year.

We are playing with less NIL money than many other schools which mean we have to be more selective and spread out our money out to maximize our roster. With the odds of players getting hurt, I understand their goal in many cases is to maximize short term revenue opportunities. Singleton gave his all for GT and I just hope he doesn't go to a school that we play (like Miami).
This is the correct view, IMO. We simply must prioritize. The closer you are to the ball the harder the position becomes, the more important it becomes to have and hold those players. That is how NIL should be allocated, IMO.
ES is a WR and thus furthest from the ball. He’s a good player but fairly easily replaced. We will be OK. Wish him the best and move on.

$2MM at 7% return will gross $140k less taxes. If you are paying 64% tax burden that would drop your net to $50k, you need a new accountant. And that would make for a decent living if you own your home or not.

Do college players avoid federal and state taxes on NIL deals? Wondering how if he get a deal at $2 million, you expect him to bank $2 million and no pay any taxes on that? He's likely around $1.3 or so after state and federal taxes, right? ;):)

You’re forgetting about agent fees and self employment tax. I’ve already outlined this earlier in the thread. You’ll probably my net $700-800k on $2M.
