How long did Harvey Middleton, Charley Rogers, Dez White, Will Glover, and Kerry Watkins each last in the league? They all were better than ES is right now. The NFL is super competitive, especially for WR. I wish ES only the best, but I want him to have that GT degree. I hope it works out for him.

I would advise anyone and everyone at 20 years old if given the choice to a) get a Tech degree or b) get a degree from Auburn or ga +2M to choose b every freaking time.
You can make money a lot of ways. Tech increases your odds of having options but there’s a lot of alums from other school doing really well. 2M head start is a heck of a lot to overcome. 1M head start at 20 years old is a lot to overcome.
Sims proved you can always come back and get a Tech degree. ES potentially leaving our team doesn’t mean he’ll never graduate from Tech. If he wants to, he’ll find a way to

People act like these football coaches at every school don’t understand the fundamentals of how to play a position. Are some better at developing talent than others - sure - but aside from goofballs (looking at you Waffle House), most position coaches are good enough to teach an NFL caliber player what he needs to do to be ready for the league. And if they aren’t all it takes is a workout in front of the scouts (who literally visit every school) to catch their eye and get recognized.

Point being - if you’re capable of playing in the NFL and have the desire to do so then you can play in the NFL.

How many Calvin's are there. One actually. Likely the fasted large WR with the best body control ever to play football. If he is you comparison you completely miss the point.

Is Singleton a comparable to Calvin? Not at all. Can Singleton get better playing against NFL caliber defensive backs every day in practice vice playing against average college DBs? Likely. If a program is willing to give him over a million dollars and possible make him a better player, than it's hard to say he is making a poor decision or should not explore the opportunity! It would be great if he stayed but that seems to be a no go!

Alabama is a much greater risk for players getting drafted now that Saban is gone. Though DeBore did have a QB and WR taken in the 1st round from his Washington team last year. Still Saban was a proven commodity for getting guys to the NFL.

Money seems to be the driver for several players. If kids are getting over a million dollars a year to play for School "X" it's hard to say they are making bad decisions.

Getting drafted from a program because of the program itself is the most illogical argument I've ever heard, and is in my top 5 pet peeves. There is ZERO logic to it. In fact, the logic goes the other way. If you're a 5-star player, are you more likely to get drafted from Alabama or GT? Most assuredly not Alabama because you're more likely to be in a room with seven other players of your same ilk on an offense/defense with 10 other starters of your same ilk, and thus you will not stand out as much and won't be the focus as much. IF you're good enough to stand out in either place (Calvin, Gibbs, etc), you will get drafted high from either place. But, you're statistically more likely to stand out and be a focus of the team's development plan and gameplan at a program like GT than one like Alabama.
If you counter this with anything like, "Nuh, uh. Just look at the number of players that get drafted from Alabama vs GT", you will need to go back to school before you're allowed to engage in this conversation.

Mercenary football is just not for me. Half the team doesn’t even know the fight song.

But then you get kids like Haynes King who represents the other side of the coin. I am so proud and delighted he is a tech man. And he’s proud of it too, which makes me even more proud.

If you’re an exceptional player on a mid-tier team, you will get noticed and drafted. If you’re an exceptional player at a big program, you’re a Heisman candidate and a top-10 draft pick.

The top two in the Heisman this year are from Colorado and Boise State. Both seem like counter examples.

Earlier this year, one of the candidates was from UNLV.

The options are more like: (a) get a Tech degree; (b) get $2M and probably a degree from Auburn; or (c) get $2M from (u)GA.

Those all all top ten draft picks from the past three years. From teams like UNC, NC State, Cincinnati, Mississippi State, etc.

Jared Goff was taken #1 overall after having one winning season (7-5) at Cal.

Do you guys actually watch the draft or do you just propagate nonsense that other people say because you like how it sounds?
