...........except Derrick Henry
Mark Ingram also shook this and had a productive career. Najee Harris and Brian Robinson are solid starters. The reputation mostly lent itself to Ingram having a slow start and Trent Richardson being a massive bust. Eddie Lacy was good too when he kept the weight off but then he derailed his own career.

I’m more annoyed with someone like singleton leaving than Gibbs. This team was going nowhere under Geoff and Gibbs deserved a chance to show what he could do with a real coach. Meanwhile this would be us losing a stud when the team appears to be tending in the right direction. Do I blame singleton for trying to get paid what people think he’s worth? No. He should totally do what’s best for him. But I’m not gonna be happy about it

This may be old news?? See SI article below.

"Georgia Tech had a big-time player enter the transfer portal today when wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr decided to enter and he reportedly already has a big visit lined up to the Yellow Jackets biggest rival. According to multiple reports, Singleton Jr is going to visit Georgia soon. One thing to note is that Georgia running backs coach Josh Crawford was the wide receivers coach at Georgia Tech during Singleton's freshman season. Georgia Tech nearly beat Georgia just two weeks ago."

This will pi$$ me off if true. You can’t convince me Crawford had no contact with ES.

No reason to pay an excessive amount for a singular player who could get injured or have some other off the field issue preventing him from contributing as much as expected. I think Tech is being smart to distribute their funds more judiciously across the roster, and it will benefit them in the long run. I also don’t think this one example of a player defecting presumably for monetary reasons necessarily indicates GT’s financial cupboard is bare.

Probably already communicated, but he's chosen to Auburn (yellawood must be paying well), per reports.
Hope the money is worth it because at best Auburn will be middle of the pack SEC team. Hopefully they can get a QB out of the portal to pass the ball to him.

If he can get 7 figures then he should go for it. Wow - we are not in Kansas anymore!!!! I think he is talented and runs a great go pattern and usually pulls the deep ball in but he has some weaknesses as well - his short patterns are not crisp and his hands still need work. But we will miss him however we should not pay him.

I`ll say this...hate to see him go, evidently he does not need a GT degree. but if he makes it to the NFL ...and he drops passes....gets hammered across the middle....gets out jumped by a taller, more physical DB....he will not last a year or 2 with his size in the NFL. then he will wish he had that GT degree hanging on his wall.....instead of a Ugag or Auburn degree.....or whoever else he might consider....Go Jackets!!!

I always hear in my head the phrase "what do we think, what do we know, what can we prove." Those are often three very different things. Nearly everything in this discussion fits into the "what do we think" category. And that's totally cool. That is exactly what discussion boards are for and I love the sharing of opinions and reasons why people think what they do. There's a lot of great thoughts here. But very little fits into "what do we know" much less "what can we prove." And I don't mean all of this to be in response to just you @slugboy it's just your post that I replied to.

My own opinion is that the guys who are obviously top level talent will be found by the NFL wherever they are. It's possible some of them will be drafted a bit higher if they are on a team PERCEIVED to be better or PERCEIVED to play more often against tougher competition simply because there's a lot of bias by the people making decisions. But most of the time they'll still get drafted high. And the kids that are at schools considered to be lower level who were awesome on the field against perceived weaker opponents and are also freakish athletes will get drafted because they have those freakish measurables to go along with performance on the field and there will be teams, especially in the middle to lower rounds, who will gamble on those kids. I also believe that some of the kids believe they have a better chance of getting drafted if they are at one of those big name schools. Who knows if they are right or wrong. So much of this is based on perception.

BTW speaking of Ashton Jeanty... had he been playing at a school in the SEC or B1G I think nobody would be even considering strength of schedule when arguing whether he deserves the Heisman or Travis Hunter should get it. Not saying he would win if he was on an SEC or B1G team. Just saying that aspect of the argument against him would go away. Personally I'm in awe of the guy and if I had a Heisman vote he'd get it. And I also agree that most scouts won't care what the strength of schedule was for Boise State.

Fun challenge... who can guess which movie it was that I saw that phrase used on a chalkboard (yes, a chalkboard, not even a whiteboard). I'll give you a hint. It does not involve lawyers or innocence and guilt of any kind.
