Singleton to Portal

LOTS of pressure on Kirby and Bobo to bring in more high impact WRs. Remember, Singleton also has a relationship with UGA's assistant coach Josh Crawford who was at GT last season.
I would think Kirby is not under any pressure at all...they play like crap and still win. Recruits are running over each other to sign there. Embarrassment of riches

The whole world was crying that players should have the freedom to transfer when ever because coach's can. Then the world cried players should get paid. They are a big contributor to a money making machine. Well everyone is getting their wish and now everyone is like damn he's leaving or crap that guy is transferring this whole portal thing just sucks. We are all getting what we wanted right? Wild wild west party on!!!
Nobody wants the wild Wild West.

Funny, I just watched a 5'11" receiver who was drafted 23rd overall torch the Atlanta Falcons defense yesterday to the tune of 133 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns.

Hard to take the top off the defense when the starting QB can't throw the ball 5 yards downfield. Didn't seem to have any issue taking the top off vs. NC State. The fact he still had the numbers he did is a testament to his talent.

Bottom Line: Georgia Tech is a better team with Eric Singleton playing on it.
What game was he difference maker in? What game did Tech win or lose because of him? Did he contribute yes. Can his #'s come from Cannon or Bailey or someone else next year? Yes, Key is building a team of players that buy into team. If a player wants to be a hired gun, fine go find it. Just like Tech will find it's own gun fighters. Singleton will not be missed sorry I don't value WR's as big time gets or losses. They are a dime a dozen. Losing key OL or DL would be more harmful. That's what worries me.

Heard from my obnoxious Dwag Uncle (he's not invited to Christmas Dinner now btw) that Singleton is already visiting Athens on Thursday and they'll have a hefty NIL package for him ready.

He's plugged in out there with a few connections.

Really don't like this new era of the college game. Free agency galore, no loyalty......

So, that leaves us with these guys returning…

Malik Rutherford
Bailey Stockton
Isiah Canion
While I don’t want to see Singleton leave, I’ll go ahead and put a bold prediction out there for 2025: IF (big IF) Singleton doesn’t return, Bailey Stockton will have a monster year and more than cover Singleton’s lost production.

Singleton is a good player and obviously has elite straight line speed. I will say, it always puzzled me that he seemed to struggle getting separation a lot with his speed. Watching film back and Focusing on him during the year, his route running is not always the best. He tends to not always run routes the hardest and looked like some jogging / lolly gagging running routes at times. But he wasn’t the only one guilty of that.

I’m sure like everyone now days, wants to value themselves in the open market, which is why it’s hard now to root/invest in individual players, as they move so frequently now, just rooting for GT each year and accept its probably a lot of different players year to year.

I think we have some good players to come in and take the spot. Singleton was always more of a slot WR forced to play outside because we didn’t have a big target step up. Canion was coming on at the end of this year, so maybe he’s that guy next year.

I could also see Zion Taylor taking some of those snaps. When we first signed him, there was a lot of buzz about his speed.

Canion is 6’4” iirc, hoping he can be a big part of our offense going forward

Unintended consequences, my good man. Unintended consequences.
I don’t know if I’d say anything one way or another about “intended” for anything the NCAA does. Not sure anyone there has enough integrity or competency for that to be in the picture.

But certainly this was foreseen by a lot of folks who have been advocating for fairly-standard-for-sports employment relationships with longer contracts and a collective bargaining agreement.

The hangups about CBAs and employment relationships seem to be coming from the “they must be amateurs” crowd, not from the “pay them more” crowd.

Stinks but it’s his decision. Of he doesn't want to be a Jacket, then we go with who does. It’s that simple. We don’t lack for WR on this team. Stockton and Malik are a good duo, and Canion will be food as well. ES was always a deep threat, but with HK’s arm he couldn’t get the ball deep to him. Philo, no problem, but that may not be next year.
