Well … we do run a lot of the same plays that Citadel does. In fact, if all you had to worry about from us was plays, then opposing DCs would have an easy time of it; we only run about 25 - 30. But the variances off those are staggering when you bring in different formations, blocking schemes, and the options. And, of course, we run the O much faster then Citadel does, largely because we have faster, bigger players, but also because we've been doing it longer.

But if they can find bigger, faster players who can run the O smoothly on their scout team, then I'm sure all will be well for them! Until we adjust, that is.

The fallacy in every opposition's plan to defend the option is that they presume there is a way to definitively defeat it via scheme. There isn't. Like Miagi said to Daniel LaRusso about the Crane Technique, "If do well, no defense." The nature of what we do is that there is always a response given what the defense is showing you. The play will always take you where there is a numbers advantage. The only way to slow it down is to continually show different looks to the quarterback hoping he'll get confused. Like Paul has said in the past, there's only so many looks you can show. So if a Defense gives us the same alignment and the same stunts, etc., we'll kill them. That's why we're so good in the second half usually. By that time the Defensive Coordinator has shown his whole hand to Paul.

The way to beat our offense is just like anything else. If they can get off of blocks and disrupt our timing, then it will be a long day for us. If they can't get off of blocks, then good for us.

It is one of the advantages that Johnson brings to the table for sticking with the same system over a long period of time. There isn't anything he hasn't seen. If we execute and don't turn the ball over, we will win.

Not only is it a difference between a bicycle and a ferrari, the drivers are light years apart. You can have to identical offenses with the same plays......having the right plays called at the right time because you can see in real time what minor tendencies the D is showing will make all the difference in the world.

Some defensive stunts don't have a presnap give away. If they get lucky and call something that puts a defender in the right place at the right time, it can kill our numbers advantage. But I agree, the best way to stop us is at the LOS. Their front guys have to defeat our front guys. If they can stop the dive with their DT's, it will be a long night for us.

I think that's all rhetoric. They have 4-5 days to prepare and are dealing with night practices, Jameis Winston drama, etc. If they win this game it will be due to the talent differential. I don't think they will be well-prepared- great athletes are able to make plays.

Again if this was a talent show the holes would win but its football...........if and its a big if,the holes play disciplined football they can be a problem....they have the size and strength to crush us in the dive hole at times but will they do it ? they have big linebackers who like to go from side to side but not so sure they like stopping dive by themselves...they have speed at db but can they play the pitch man or run laterllay with the qb ? Well they will be tuff at times but I still dont think they have the discipline to play team football and thats our edge. We win.

Jimbo had a good quote about this in his press conference, saying how everyone tries to simplify it to just "assignment football" and being disciplined, but in reality it comes down to getting off blocks, making good tackles in open space...basically just good football plays like against anyone else. Of course it was a little tough to understand what he was saying because of his manic word diarrhea style of speaking, but good point nonetheless.
