I’m just telling you what I remember. Let’s table the discussion for now. Feel free to tell me I’m wrong the next time we get an invite to the Gator Bowl.

Unless they add the Gator to the CFP, we won’t be going there anytime soon anyway.

TBH, the ACC has about 5 real bowls in real stadiums. Other than the 6 top-shelf bowls, there’s the Gator, Sun, Liberty, Holiday, ReliaQuest (HoF/Outback), CheezIt (Citrus/Cap One), Music City, PopTart (Camping World/Blockbuster), Music City, Mayo, and Independence Bowls that are shared between the P4 conferences. That’s 11 bowls 4 ways or about 3 per conference. The ACC has 3-4 of these (Gator, Sun, CheezIt, and Mayo bowls, IIRC.

Beyond that, it’s a bunch of low-level events like Gasparilla, B’ham, San Antonio, Fenway, Pinstripe, Motor City, Military, Armed Services, etc.

IOW, the pickings are slim, but all carry the additional 15 days of practice.

Enjoy it for what it is.

I think that a player that declares for the portal CAN still play in the current team's bowl game as long as they have not officially transferred.

I'd be surprised if some of our graduating players that have declared do not play.

As long as the player and the coaching staff are OK with it, it’s fine for someone in the transfer portal to play in a bowl game

Historically we have not allowed it. Kennard did not play last year and he was starting

We got invited when we were 8-4 in 2016. Since then, we've gone 5-6, 7-6, 3-9, 3-7, 3-9, 5-7, 7-6 and 7-5. Which of these years do you think we deserved the Gator Bowl and why? The whining about them is off the charts ridiculous.

Anyone have an actual link to someone affiliated with the Gator Bowl or city of Jacksonville stating they won't invite us again? This is pure nonsense. No one would ever publicly say that and attendance was just fine.

There were 43K fans that year. Since then there have been 41K, 38K, 61K (Tennessee fans), 10K (covid), 28K, 67K (ND and SC) and 40K (with Clemson in the game). Stop making up nonsense.

Gah Lee, yall never stop. Hell I’m excited for this. We should play Vandy way more regularly than we do. A home and home every 5-6 years or so. No bowl was gonna satisfy some of yall, you were gonna ***** no matter what.

Sheesh. This is a great opportunity to bring a lot of fans to a new stadium and create a great atmosphere for a game against one of Tech’s oldest rivals. A chance to take down a mighty SEC team, one that slayed the Bama dragon even. A game between 2 schools that have been doing it the “right way” for decades, led by alum head coaches that understand the intricacies, challenges, and culture of their schools better than anyone else. What more could you even ask for? To go freeze your *** off in NYC or Boston? Damn, can yall not ***** about something for once?
