Every time I’ve been to the Gator Bowl, it was packed with Tech fans. After 2016 J’ville powers that be said they wouldn’t invite us again because we found better nearby locations to spend our dining and hotel dollars than the pit that is J’ville. They accused us of not traveling well even with an 8-4 record.

- 1956 Gator Bowl
- 1960 Gator Bowl (January)
- 1961 Gator Bowl
- 1965 Gator Bowl (December)
- 1999 Gator Bowl
- 2000 Gator Bowl
- 2007 Gator Bowl
- 2016 Taxslayer Gator Bowl
You’re probably right. But maybe times change. All I know is that in 2016 we took heat for poor attendance or not showing up with the same enthusiasm as Kentucky or some other problem but J’ville officials said that they weren’t inviting us again.
Maybe so. Either way I don’t expect to ever make a trip to the Gator bowl again and I never hold out hope to be picked for it or the Mayo. Even if we finish in the top six, our best chances give us only four options before dropping us to the second tier. Sun, Holiday and Pinstripe are long trips and will result in minimal fan attendance. We will need to be really good to make the Pop Tart or decide to fully support the B’ham or Gaspar and have fun doing so.I think they weren't inviting us again because we beat Kentucky and the Gator Bowl is always about getting an SEC team a win. Plus stoops complained. Tech fans were rightly annoyed in 2016 to even be in the gator bowl given where we finished in the conference and with a win over UGA.

Can you me what the lottery numbers will be this coming Tuesday night?I believe we are Birmingham bound hopefully against a bottom SEC team. Probably Vandy.

My post was in response to the statement that tech would never get back to gator b/c we didn’t eat at the right restaurants or sleep in the right hotels. I am highly skeptical of that statement, but maybe I’m taking it to litteral (being an engineer & all). Had nothing to do with if I would be in attendance at B’ham or not! What’s your point ? My mistake for being somewhat sarcastic. Bottom line, our ticket/monetary support was insufficient compared to UK and previous attendees. We won’t be going to the Gator Bowl again in the near future so stop counting on it being an option for us. Mayo has never invited us and won’t in the future. Don’t know why but they prefer local teams. Thus, our first tier options other than CFP are Pop Tart, Sun, Holiday and Pinstripe. Pop Tart will require a really good season. The other three are ok but not reasonable from a travel perspective for large groups of fans.My post was in response to the statement that tech would never get back to gator b/c we didn’t eat at the right restaurants or sleep in the right hotels. lol, wait till they see the crowd Puke brings ………. We will look like we brought the population of a small country comparatively. My mistake for being somewhat sarcastic. So why not make the most of B’ham and Gaspar and otherwise STFU.
This is bull**** like most of your takes in this thread. Do you understand the bowl selection process? What and where did you expect the ACC to try to place us to appease you? What did we do to earn the placement you think we were screwed on?I started this thread. I knew we'd get porked. We dodged Shreveport & the baseball stadiums, so we didn't get treated like a 6-6 team but the ACC message is basically the same. They will never advocate for us ever. We need out of this conference.
Hmm, Jax is close to me. Ive been to several Gator Bowls; never picked up on this powers to be statement. Stoops was/is a whiner. Wheres he at this year? If Jax is a pit what's your idea of something great; Shreveport. La? You been to that one? After 2016 J’ville powers that be said they wouldn’t invite us again because we found better nearby locations to spend our dining and hotel dollars than the pit that is J’ville. TBH, the ACC has about 5 real bowls in real stadiums. Other than the 6 top-shelf bowls, there’s the Gator, Sun, Liberty, Holiday, ReliaQuest (HoF/Outback), CheezIt (Citrus/Cap One), Music City, PopTart (Camping World/Blockbuster), Music City, Mayo, and Independence Bowls that are shared between the P4 conferences. That’s 11 bowls 4 ways or about 3 per conference. The ACC has 3-4 of these (Gator, Sun, CheezIt, and Mayo bowls, IIRC.I started this thread. I knew we'd get porked. Maybe that should be Jax’ new motto, “we’re better than Shreveport”.Hmm, Jax is close to me. Ive been to several Gator Bowls; never picked up on this powers to be statement. Stoops was/is a whiner. I’m just telling you what I remember. Let’s table the discussion for now. Feel free to tell me I’m wrong the next time we get an invite to the Gator Bowl.I don’t recall 2016 discord but do recall the infamous 2007 game. WVU fans pooped in stands occupied by the GT band.
And somehow we get banned from this game?
Minnesota has a pretty good football team they lost a few close games. I’d love to see Ga Tech play them in a bowl game. I believe we would pound ‘em pretty good and get the win.Why the Minnesota disrespect? They had some off the most watched games this year, too.
We’ve been to the Gator Bowl more than any other Bowl.Further confirmation that neither Gator nor Mayo will EVER pick us.
That technically wasn’t the Gator Bowl, but just the Taxslayer Bowl.
