2 things can be true at the same time. It will be a good bowl for us because it’s close to Atlanta and a chance to play a recognized name of the SEC. But this bowl is at the bottom tiers for a reason and we got jumped only because we played a harder schedule. Say screw it and play Kennesaw state 4 times at home

Let’s go!!!!

I mean, let’s actually go. Like drive there.
I already booked three hotel rooms for the night before since it's either a noon or 3:30P game. Since it's so close to ATL I'm planning on taking my wife, my daughter and her boyfriend, and HOPEFULLY my son and his girlfriend.

2 things can be true at the same time:

1. It’s legitimate to gripe that Duke got a MUCH better bowl game than us (opponent and location) when we had the same conference record, we beat them H2H, and we very likely would travel better as a fan base

2. We ultimately really only have ourselves to blame for being in this situation by failing to finish off uga and by losing to an awful VT team
Tech got screwed in Athens. No one will convince me otherwise. That game is a Tech win in my book. That being said, Tech attendance will be higher in Birmingham than Jacksonville. I’m happy.

The whining is crazy to me. We’re likely to play a quality opponent within driving distance of campus. For a 7-5 team, I’ll take it. Remember the Little Caesar’s Bowl?

Agree. Yeah there are better bowls , but at the end of the day we didn't win the big games we should have that would have gotten a better bowl.

We also have the refs to blame on first part of point 2, but digress.

Regarding point 1 and latter half of point 2, prepare to be lectured that it’s about win/loss record when other teams have a better record. And it’s about popularity when other teams have a worse record.

But when it’s pointed out that we get shafted, it’s whining.

GT fan self-loathing. The refs cut us breaks all the time, the ACC hooks us up, etc. We're all just delusional for not eating that **** sandwich and smiling.

This would have been the only bowl I could make in person.

If we’re better than this bowl, let’s prove it by WRECKING whoever we play.

Go jackets! Next year we’ll be in the CFP so this bowl is just whatever
Our future is very bright right now, and I am very proud of our team. However, all is not well in our house. Mrs. Sheboygan’s UW BAD-gers had their streak of 22 CONSECUTIVE bowl appearances snapped by going 5-7, losing their last 5 games. They went 8-5 last year. Fickell’s seat is getting warm .

Teams in the SEC have been doing this for years. Baically buying wins. I would rather have wins than play marquee matchups.
Not me. Especially now. The non conf basically doesn’t matter. Win the conf and play non conf games against quality opponents (so they can screw you with their refs).

Hello Sheboygan. Mrs. Sheboygan is welcome to visit The Axe any time in Dinkytown to raise her spirits.

As to Fickell, yes the seatwarmer in his Subaru is turned all the way up. Regardless, Merry Christmas to you and your family and good luck to your team in the bowl. Billd.

Homecoming for Coach Key.

The press for this is part of the reason i think we get this bowl over the Mayo bowl. Last season Keys' ties to UCF were a big talkgin point it was the O'leary bowl so to speak. This year. Its Key going home likely against Oklahoma (two schools with storied histories facing off)

Most of the sports press would be hard pressed to splice 2 independent thought together. It’s highly doubtful they’d be able to muster any degree of 2nd level thoughts much less 3rd level- GT- Key-Birmingham

Vanderbilt plays us in Birmingham
I'm going to take a wild guess and say that the TV viewership will consist ONLY of GT and Vanderbilt fans and with that matchup I'd put it at noon. I'll be there with my family but what a let down to get the worst possible option of all the SEC teams. That doesn't mean they are the worst team. But from a "draw" perspective they are just terrible.
