Reported crowd was less than 30K. That I don’t believe. Photos look like we had more than that.

The attendance numbers are never 'accurate' reports of how many show up.
All schools report attendance as tickets sold.

There was an article a year or two ago that looked at tickets sold vs scanned tickets. The avg % of scanned tickets to sold tickets in FBS is around 70% (GT was right around the avg).
I'm sure GT sold more tickets to the Duke game (Homecoming) than UVA (weeknight game). GT may have had more people in the stands last night, though the upper decks looked awfully empty.

Tailgating in W21 was sparse, with only one RV in the main RV lot and there were several major tailgates (non-RV) missing. So I knew it was gonna be bad. I get that limiting tailgating until after 4PM may enter into the decision for those hauling a big tailgate in, but previous Thursday games weren't as bad as yesterday.

OTOH, a guy across the aisle from me who had been missing this entire year showed up. I thought he gave up his tix this year. He said he couldn't bear to come anymore after 3-3-3 but the last two games convinced him to show up. Unless we do better he probably won't be back until next year.

That’s good. Just shows that winning would fix the attendance problem.

We were in upper East which was obviously sparse, but I thought west looked pretty good really, filled in as the game went on. I think the student support deserves recognition, nice turnout and enthusiasm, especially given how busy things are right now (my kid is tired, studying nonstop).

I’ve scanned the forum today, usual dark pessimistic analytical negativity after a disappointing loss, but we’re digging out of a deep multi-year hole, gonna require a little patience. But my goodness, we’re in so much better shape going forward vs a month ago.

Box score says 29.4K, We had to have had more than that. Based on photos the east upper deck and south lower deck looks more full than the Duke game and all of the lower deck except the south stands were full. Maybe attendance is reported at kickoff because it looks like we had like 35K. Traffic was bad last night so a lot of people arrived late.
View attachment 13366that 2nd attachment is looking right over my head. Its section 210. Nice PTZ they added to our area

Weather was awesome for football - around 60 at beginning of game and maybe 50 when the game ended. And I would believe the sub-30K attendance from what we could see with our own eyes.

It may have been plus 30,000 as some point but it was a whole lot less by the fourth quarter.

It was right at around 30k. I really don't think it was over 30k. There were more at the Duke game. This game was so weird. It started oddly quiet for the first 5-10 minutes of the game.

I was at the Duke and UVA games and UVA crowd looked a little bigger but people did arrive late. Regardless, it was a disappointing crowd. I thought people may start coming back after the two straight wins. We have lost o a lot of loyal fans the past three years.

And this is case with lots of people. We have alumni that are choosing to do other things instead of watching the dumpster continue to smolder. It's brutal. This loss has likely sapped whatever momentum we gained...

That said, the dook crowd was loud! Good energy, good atmosphere. I was hoping for the same on Thursday night, but it didn't happen. 3 years of piss poor performance doesn't go away after two close wins...

TV is ruining attendance. People can stay home, avoid traffic, walk to the fridge, use clean bathrooms, and not worry about weather. That doesn't include parking if one decides to drive (I used MARTA). More and more games on TV seem to have less attendance except the big programs who are winning. I enjoy coming to the game when in Atlanta because I like to be back on campus. If we were able to start competing for the ACC championship again, for example, I would consider season tickets again even with a 6 hour drive. I hope the next coach gets us there.

Not sure why we’d ‘deflate’ attendance numbers. I was there and the number was about right. Funerals are louder…

Far cry from some of the good Thursday night games in recent history (2003 Maryland, 2009 Clempson)

Ok let's look at the positives and negatives.

Positives
1 Avoid Traffic
2 Use clean bathrooms ( if you stand close and don't pee on the floor)
3 you can get what you want out of the fridge
4 Not worry about the weather
5 don't have to look for a parking space
6 can sit in your chair

OK Negatives
1 Your wife will be at home with you and run her mouth all game

After thinking about it I think going to the game and getting away wins out ( hint make sure to leave your wife at home or this was all for nothing)
