Howland, who was the top name on my list, rcvd 2.2 or 2.4 from MSU, IIRC.

He probably comes at a discounted price but, you can get results for less than 2.5M.

FWIW, Howland and GT would never have happened for multiple reasons.
First, he would not have cleared background checks,
second, he's Adidas and GT is not - he was going to an Adidas school - that is why Miss ST landed him. it actually had little to do with Miss St - they were going to keep Ray for another year.
Basically Adidas told them if their position was open they could get them Howland (who wanted to coach again).

But there will be coaches available, the key is to be willing to pay a respectable salary.

Due to Hewitt's buyout GT had no choice financially but to go cheap. GT Literally could not go much over $1M a yr. They had both Gailey's and Hewitt's buyouts at the time. That was over $2M per year in buyouts.

Some insiders wanted to pretend that money wasn't an issue - but it was the primary issue - it limited the whole search.

Sole Man was phenomenal and worth the time to watch

Also, they showed Kenny scramble Hurley.

The next coach, when it becomes time, will be a hungry, young up & comer. I don't know what that money will be, but I'd be shocked if we went to $1.75MM. I'd place money on this.

FWIW, BG is also a Nike coach andn I've got no doubt he'd want us in Nike head to toe if he had his druthers.
