2 projections this morning had GT at number 9. Vandy is projected at 7 in both predictions. OK 3 years ago (Pre-Key) who would have predicted Indiana at number 2, Vandy at number 7 and GT at number 9?

Vandy was 17, and beat #10. No way they move up into the top 10 ahead of an undefeated team in front of them.

At some point the committee has to quit valuing “good” losses over actual wins on the field. It keeps getting back to preconceived preseason rankings. Winning games on the field actually matters.

They matter to you and me, but that’s a pernicious, yet essential, part of The Narrative that helps maintain SOS and multiple teams in playoffs.

Back in the day pollsters were reluctant to put teams with losses ahead of undefeated teams. Even if the teams with losses appeared to be better teams it was just kind of unsportsmanlike.

Based on the wins and losses this week, Tech should be ranked #7. Miami will fall to #8, Ole Miss #9 (or flip-flop them). GT will be right behind uga and Alabama. Remind me...who did Alabama lose to? What is FSU's ACC record since filing a lawsuit to get out of the loser conference? 1-11 now?

We’ve played some pretty good D’s. I also think every team above will likely go bowling this season with the possible exception of VPI.

Mia and TTU lost to ACC & Big12 teams respectively so they each will drop about 10 spots each; they won't get the benefit of doubt for having lost to an SEC team. I also think most AP voters will put us ahead of Mia as the top ACC team.
