He wasn't nasty enough. Got to have a mean streak to play d-line...

Or be in the right scheme. I remain convinced that if T.J. had been playing in a 4-3 with one gap responsibility he would have been all ACC. There were reports that he was bad news at the pass for our OL during practice his freshman year in that set. As it turned out, he ended up laying back and fighting off double-teams for three years, instead of going after the other side. Too bad.

I think part of the reason for TJ was also his conditioning never got to the point where he could be a consistent force. He was solid to good when he wasn't tired and often did his part to hold up the point of attack, but there were also times when he was tired that he would get driven literally 6-7 yards off the line.

Yeah, I thought that too. Then I heard about his NFL physical. They said he had less body fat then anyone else in the draft of his size.

I admit that really surprised me and it could well be that he buckled down and got into shape after he left Tech. But guys that big usually have a hard time doing that quickly.

It could be this is all urban legend, all the time too. I'm glad T.J. got a chance to play on Sunday, no matter what the true story is.
