In addition to having their official heights and weights recorded, the professional football hopefuls were put through a wide variety of speed and strength measurements, including the bench press, 40-yard dash, short-shuttle and three-cone runs, broad jump and vertical jump.
Carpenter and Mason had some of the most impressive showings of the day, including both clocking sub-4.5-second 40-yard times. Carpenter also had a 39-inch vertical jump (which is just a half-inch shy of the highest jump by a DB at the 2022 NFL Combine) and an 11-4 broad jump, while Mason bench-pressed 225 pounds 21 times (which would have tied for tops among all RBs at this year’s Combine).
Other top performances included Brooks, Clayton, Cochran, Johnson, Kirby, McGowan and Oliver on the bench press (all had 20-plus reps), Swilling, Jordan-Swilling and McGowan on the vertical jump (37, 36 and 35.5 inches, respectively), Swilling and Thomas on the short-shuttle (4.15 and 4.18 seconds, respectively) and Swilling, Oliver and McGowan on the broad jump (10-6, 10-3 and 10-2, respectively).
The prospects also performed in a variety of position-specific on-field drills.
