My original question was something like "what is different about FK this spring?" Always before when a coach was asked how he was doing, the answer was something like "Francis was indeed at practice today." If pressed for specifics, it was "Francis doesn't play low enough for the interior and he isn't quick enough for the outside. And he isn't aggressive enough for a defensive lineman." Between this thread and something I read elsewhere, I got my question answered. 1) He is working really, really hard to improve. 2) He has learned to use his hands to fend off blocks.

GT Football Twitter account posted a link to a great article about Michael Summers. The link is here:

The article also had this encouraging footnote about Kallon at the end:

Johnson singled out defensive lineman Francis Kallon as looking impressive on film following last Saturday's scrimmage. ''He's playing with his hands, separating from blocks,'' Johnson said. ''He had about 12 tackles.''

I hope the light has indeed come on for Kallon. I just wonder if the praise for him is actually just a motivational tactic for others on the D line. A lot of players that get press during the Spring tend to see a lot of the bench in the fall. I am not sure what the reason is.

Great! Maybe someone can ask what the heck is going on with Francis K and if he has indeed turned a corner.
If he turns the corner and plays to what we thought he would then our front 6 or 7 depending on our defense could be dangerous imagine him Gotsis, hunt-day, whitehead, and freeman on the line, that in itself would change our defense because we would control the line of scrimmage better and get more pressure on the qb to help our dbs as well
