We looked better against UGA than Texas did in my opinionStill trying to cope with the uga loss and after they beat Texas last night it’s even harder.
What are some positive thoughts you all are using to get past the loss?
One big question that has arisen with announced transfers is losing 3 OL teams...1 out of eligibility and 2 transfersThere are teams in the CFP that I think we can beat, and we should be better next year.
2008 2009 we didn't go toe to toe with them? 2013-2016 we didn't go toe to toe with them? Hell, 2004-2006 of Chan's tenure were close games, we just lost all of them. This is mine. First the first time since the GOL days, we have shown the last two games that we can go toe to toe with them. No longer do ween to hope for miracles, multiple turnovers, etc. We don't look out manned physically. Or intimidated. So the last game was not our only shot. It's going to be a war annually again. Our younger fans here have never seen. It's glorious.
True. However, to be a perenniel top 20 team we gotta be able to fill the gaps with depth. Winning football comes from the offensive line and a solid QB. This is the where Key earns his money - building the lines. Getting a 4 star CB is nice but won’t keep us from losing games. Having depth on the OLine IS THE REASON we will win or lose. Your point is the million dollar question for our program. We’ll see.One big question that has arisen with announced transfers is losing 3 OL teams...1 out of eligibility and 2 transfers
And this is the beauty of NIL. You forgot after Dooley slammed the calculus book on the kitchen table, he told the kid to open it up and there was an envelope of Benjamins.Vince Dooley famously recruited against Tech by taking a calculus book with him when he visited recruits. It worked for decades upon decades. Now we have a great coach with a heart of gold who will say to the mothers of recruits, “Ma’m, we’ll keep your boy safe.”
No doubt we have given them some battles over the years despite being big underdogs. hats off to the coaches and players! Wasn't trying to disparage anybody fwiw. OTOH, we have a winning rate of about 14% against them in the years since GOL left if my math is correct. The point remains (imo) we went into those games with really nothing but hope as fans. I would bet the CFB world as a whole gave us very little chance most of those years (although I do recall actually being a favorite one year when we played them at BDS. Which of course we lost bc we played them at BDS. But I digress). My point to the OP is that I believe there has been a fundamental shift in GT FB. Going forward I expect this to be of a matchup of peers than a fight between big brother vs. little brother. I sure hope that I am not wrong on this. Time will tell.2008 2009 we didn't go toe to toe with them? 2013-2016 we didn't go toe to toe with them? Hell, 2004-2006 of Chan's tenure were close games, we just lost all of them.
