I guess I get where he is coming from, but I think it reflects what is wrong with the current system. Is the idea to play a lousy schedule so you can be undefeated? Playing Notre Dame should be good for the ACC even if it results in some losses - not bad.

I would prefer a setup where if you lose some tough non-conference games it doesn't kill you but is looked at positively because you played a tough schedule. The season has a long way to go so this conjecture he makes about Clemson/Notre Dame/Ga Tech is probably meaningless. Nevertheless, if you follow his logic, the ACC would be hurt because it's champion lost to a good non-conference team. This is why we eventually either need to 1) have a real change in logic for picking the 4 playoff teams such that SOS really means something, or 2) go to a plan where if you win your conference in power 5 you are in. #2 sounds better because it would encourage better non-conference match- ups.

I'm not saying this because I am a Tech fan - I am saying it for the good of college football seasonal match-ups.

ND is convinced that all it has to do is go undefeated and they're a shoo-in for the CFP. This, without a CG victory on its resume when compared to everyone else. All things being equal where other teams are also undefeated and have CG victories, no dice ND. Start comparing conference champions with losses against an undefeated ND and it gets interesting real fast. ND does have a quality win so far this year, or at least that's how it looks like it's being spun.

Please pass the popcorn.

If ND goes undefeated, then the likely ACC champ (either we or CU) will have one loss and it will be to them. The Big 12 doesn't have a championship game. They'll also have games against USC and Stanford from the Pac 12. If they go undefeated, they have a case, imo.

Notre dame may have 1 less game but they also have less cupcakes. The cupcakes for this season are UMASS, Temple, and Wake Forest (sorry I had to)

If ND goes undefeated with their schedule and being the icon of college football, there is no way they will be left out of the playoffs.

Honestly, any major team that goes undefeated is in. We are not going to have more than 4 in any one year. Only way it could be an issue would be ND + ACC, B10, & P12 champs undefeated, and a 1 loss SEC champ.

I would certainly tune into that SEleCtion Committee show to see them explain their choices.
