Some general fan observations from this season: Of a block of about 200 seats near me we’d have around 160 on an average game day last several seasons. This year was about 120 for USF, I’ll be generous and say 80 for Citadel and I counted yesterday- 100. I’m in the middle of a row and there was one guy with 2 UNC buddies at one end, 2 of the normally 6 to my right. The energy in the stadium has been like a flat tire. Yesterday when we drove down to make it 24-15 we got some cheering, but people sit right back down. We KO and get them on the 13. Hey we got a chance, little excitement in the fans still there. 2 plays later (10yd pass and 30yd run plus 15yd penalty) back to the flat tire. I really don’t have an answer because I thought after the spring game we’d have more enthusiasm. Only thing I can figure is GT better figure something out quickly because this business model of trying to compete by spending money does not work without fans or some large gracious donors that are willing to fund football each year. If it were up to me I’d work the gameday experience first.
