At least Herbstreit sounded semi knowledgeable analyzing our offense earlier in the show. Apparently he ran option in highschool. Can't remember him calling a gt game recently. Could it be we have a decent announcer today?

Lou talked like that when he was at NCSt. He's forgotten more about football then anyone on that panel will ever know.

But analysis isn't what these guys are hired for. Remember when Holtz had the Coach's Corner segment where he would actually, you know, talk about football a little? They got rid of that because most of the people who watch college football want to hear that one team is better then the other, usually because they have better athletes. (Gloating over superior athletic ability makes up a large part of the usual fan's reason for watching.) So Holtz went back to being a sounding board for the other panelists. But watch: every now and then, he'll stomp all over the others when they say something that he, as a long time coach, knows doesn't make much difference. He smiles when he does it nowadays, but watch his eyes. They don't hide anything.

Lou has certainly "forgotten more about football then anyone on that panel will ever know." but the question is how much he still remembers :) actually I like him but not the know-it-alls that sit on either side of him.

He called the ACC Championship game last weekend. I thought he was very complimentary and knowledgable about our offense.
