I have watched the replay of that run several times. Players were so out of position after the runner broke the line they could not have caught him if they wanted to. Not doubting key just wishing someone would explain this to me in a very elementary way.

Totally agree. Brooks was the last defender capable of making the tackle and he clearly overran the play. After that, no one for Tech even had the option to let the runner score.
