Makes you worry about Shamire after football. He's naturally a big guy, and if he's forced to keep his weight down because of football, what happens when coaches and trainers are no longer around to watch over him.

For his own sake, I hope he comes to the realization that he can make money at this football thing because he has the talent, but most important, his health is at jeopardy if he doesn't start taking care of himself.

And, I'm assuming that this is still before Beer.

Wow guys...comments like the above are the reason why we don't know more about our players. Who wants to share when you'll get labeled a "weird kid". I'm sure you didn't mean it like that Jazzy, but think about the way that comes across. Much better ways to say that he doesn't go to many parties.

I'll get off my high horse, but people need to think about their words. Players read this site.

It's 2015, pretty much everyone plays a computer or video game that's below the age of 30. I had teammates that played Skyrim obsessively and still went out.

Doesn't fat burn off before muscle?

If you're in a caloric deficit and working those muscles, they don't get repaired like normal so they atrophy. If you're aren't doing anything physical, the fat and some muscle will come off, depending on diet. If he eats mostly protein, the muscle loss will be minimal- but eating all protein isn't a great diet...

I'm guessing that the coaches would certainly like to get Devine down to 330 or so. I'm also guessing that the telling factor here will be how well he plays on the field. If he does well at 359, then I'm pretty sure that Coach will suck it up and play him. If he can't then he'll get platooned, just like last year.

There really isn't anything magic about weight. True, most players could do with less of it, provided they aren't losing muscle (as was pointed out above). But there have been plenty of great football players who were natural butterballs. My favorite: Frank Nunley, the great '49ers LB. His nickname was "The Fudgehammer" because, as one of his teammates said, "He's sooooo soft and he hits sooooo hard."

I expect that Shamire will start next year, no matter what his weight. How long he'll stay in is up to him.

They want him in the 330 range to help his mobility, he's having a hard time pulling at his current weight and his stamina is not good...I don't see him starting right now.

Especially with Braun over at RG now.

I don't think they moved our starting LT Chamberlain so he can ride the bench at LG. If they're moving a starter, that means they have confidence in the guy behind him to start, and also, the LG position isn't as strong as they want it to be.

I figured Braun would be a starter at LG like he was last season, but if he's moving over to RG where we all assumed Devine would be, and had to move our starting LT to LG...sounds like our coaches ain't waiting around for anyone. They're putting the best 5 out there, and letting the rest fit in where they earn it.

Shamire is probably the most physically gifted OL we've had in a while, but it's up to him to do what the coaches need him to do to get on the field.

It wasn't meant in a spiteful way for him being different. I've met him, he's just a bit odd. He's relativly quiet, and would rather play video games than go to a party. Just very Atypical for a Football Player
