Failure to maximize his players' tool sets is CDH's superpower.MLB.com article:
Here are baseball's 12 best power-speed prospects
4. Kristian Campbell, 2B/SS/OF, Red Sox (No. 74)
Campbell displayed average raw power and plus speed in his lone season at Georgia Tech in 2023, but he didn't maximize either tool in games and lasted 132 picks until the Red Sox drafted him in the supplemental fourth round. After Boston helped him improve his strength, bat speed and swing path, he has enjoyed perhaps the biggest breakout season in the Minors. He has slashed .330/.439/.558 with 20 homers and 24 steals in 115 games while rising from High-A to Triple-A.
To be fair on this one, Campbell was injured most of his time at Tech. He missed all of his 1st season with injury and missed about a month of his 2nd season. If my memory serves me correctly, he was getting better and better as that season progressed.Failure to maximize his players' tool sets is CDH's superpower.
Confirmation bias is a thing... unless it's me doing it.To be fair on this one, Campbell was injured most of his time at Tech. He is going to be an elite player. His bat to ball skills are insane.Kristian Campbell continues to be highly ranked on prospect lists, but this is the highest I have seen yet. MLB Pipeline polled "front office executives" from all 30 MLB teams, and Campbell was listed as the TOP (#1) prospect by 4.1% of the responders. That puts him 7th overall! Here's to hoping he can maintain this momentum.

You're correct. I hadn't picked up on that.Tied for 4th really. Only three players got more than 4.1%.
I sure hope Simpson plays for Durham this year. I have season tickets behind their dugout. I had hoped he would be here last year. I think he is now in the outfield which may have slowed his move up.You're correct. I hadn't picked up on that.
mlb.com continued their series on prospects, and in the section on "Top Tools", Chandler Simpson was voted at the top for "Which prospect has the most speed". He was voted #1 by 49% of the executives polled, beating out former Vandy outfielder Enrique Bradfield.
Yes, in his pro career he has played exactly 1 inning in the infield. He is exclusively an outfielder now, primarily in CF. He's now 24 years old and has 350 PAs at AA Montgomery, so I would think he has a real shot at starting the year in Durham, or at a minimum getting there by June.I sure hope Simpson plays for Durham this year. Tampa had assigned him to Durham the end of 2023. I had expected him to be on the Bulls roster last year but he went down to AA where he had a really good year hitting and stealing bases. Hard to keep him in AA with his performance.Yes, in his pro career he has played exactly 1 inning in the infield. He is exclusively an outfielder now, primarily in CF. He was assigned to AAA at the end of ‘23, but to the developmental squad, not the active roster. It was a way to get him some extra work after his high A season ended. So he really wasn’t sent down to AA, it was his expected next stop in 2024. I expect he’ll start 2025 in AAA, as part of the active roster this time.Tampa had assigned him to Durham the end of 2023.
