Agreed. He has only been involved in overtime games twice since taking over the team, and the first one only went to a single overtime.

He’s been rebuilding this team after years of coaching malpractice has decimated it. There are only so many hours in the day. If I were in his place, the rules regarding double/triple/etc overtime would be pretty low on my list of priorities too.

Heck, with the ball bouncing differently a few times, COFH would have been a victory in regulation, and we would live in a timeline where multiple overtimes have never been relevant to Brent Key as a head coach.
Ball bouncing…? How about flag bouncing?

All coaches are human beings — they make mistakes.

Just like all of us do.
This! And the best are in the NFL. Successful college coaches are excellent recruiters, organizers, motivators, stress fundamentals, and have an eye for talent. If they were geniuses, they’d be in another field.

Would've been nice to get the post-season money for ND winning and it added to the ACC record since they basically play in our conference.
Kind of crazy they get the full share all to themselves. NCAA is going to start allowing schools to pay players directly up $22M (I believe this is true, somebody correct me if I’m wrong). Their payout from the sugar Bowl basically pays for their entire roster next year. Notre Dame is about to be the biggest beneficiary of the current system. A good season basically guarantees them a home playoff game and a good shot at a natty every year. The more of them they stack the more cash they pocket. ACC should be working hard to get a share of that.

The counter to that is that the defense at first sends ten players out, Then, after the first ten players get on the field, send out the last player. The refs will allow the multiple replacements and force the offense to wait until the last player gets on the field. No way, ND gets the play off in time if Kirby does that. However, since he did not know the rule, he never would have done this.

There was also no reason for Kirby to rush his team on the field. They ran onto the field as if they were the ones who needed to get the play off in time.
Doesn’t the play clock stop if the referee has his hand on the ball?

No. Teams will sometimes get a delay of game or have to burn a timeout when they sub late and the official holds the snap. Defenses use that to their advantage sometimes and intentionally slow down their substitutions. That was part of the controversy in the SCar vs. Illinois game.

It think the $22M is for ALL athletes, not just for the football team,
