What a lazy hire. They've seen the movie before so they know it's Godfather 3. Even if he's gRoWn since then, why not give someone different a chance? Frickin' retreaded retread.
Wow! This is like us hiring GOL back… um… no it’s not….

Belichick to UNC? As a Tech fan, I would welcome this as good news.

1. Has he ever coached a down of college football?
2. Has he ever sat in a recruit's living room and made his pitch?
3. Has he ever put a single mile on his car driving to watch a HS sophomore play a game in a South Georgia town he can't name or find without a GPS?

Belichick isn't what's-his-name out in Colorado. The fat cats in Chapel Hill may be eager to rub elbows with someone who has all those rings, but I don't think that's going to mean much to the 18-year-olds he has to recruit.

I won't say that this sets the program back on its heels, but I think UNC will be 6-6 three to five years from now when Belichick "retires" due to the 24/7/365 nature of recruiting in the era of NIL and the portal.

If I'm wrong, please explain why.

What is rumored in CH is he wants it guaranteed his son would replace him when he retires. Not sure UNC will agree to that.

Chatting with my neighbor this morning. He joked that Belichick is very interested in the job, but Board members want a role in play calling and cheerleader uniforms.

It’s sounding like UNC is interested.

It kind of feels like Charlie Weis again, but Belichick rewrote the NFL coaching handbook—a young version of him in the NCAA would be transformative. I’m not sure about it at his age

IMO, this sounds like an impending disaster. Belichick was a great NFL coach, but the culture difference between the NFL and CFB is huge. Big difference between mature(for the most part) professionals and teenage amateurs....

The handoff to his son has split the UNC board.
Is this serious? I can't imagine Belichik (or anyone) asking this as a condition of employment. WTBS, if the UNC is the mental equivalent of a DBraine, MBob or TStan, it might happen. If I were a UNC fan (if they exist for FB) I would say "hell no" to this.

The only positive is he is used to Free Agency and could be brought in as a GM type and the DC & OC are co-head coaches.

I could see this happening. If you hire a coach near retirement, you need to be able to point to that guy and say he’s taking over one day. Main reason I think Mac Brown was ineffective this time around.

A large share of his success was because Tom Brady accepted a smaller salary to win championships. He sometimes made more off the field than he did on it.
He made the most money of any NFL QB because his career was so long. But on a year by year basis, he wasn’t the top paid player.

Unless Belichick gets a Tom Brady, I don’t think he’ll have the same success at UNC

Here a stupid article about it https://www.si.com/nfl/2022/02/23/ongoing-mystery-of-why-tom-brady-played-for-less

Lou Holtz did this for Skip at South Carolina. It’s been done.

I wasn’t impressed with either at South Carolina
