Mike Gundy on the hot seat. He can agree to restructure his contract or he can get fired. $25 million if fired now.

This situation is a good reason for coaches to have a long-term contract, especially if your pay is towards the upper end of the scale. Apparently being too expensive can get you fired.

If Geoff (Jeff?) doesn't get that job, it will be a travesty. uNC needs more NIL $s? Let's get some big alums to sponsor Money Down! uNC needs some elite talent, both players and coaches and guess what, they are in the same position we were in. They've got their future coach already on staff! They should be heading to the athletic department office with pitchforks, clown noses and wigs and Waffle House cups demanding that Geoff be named the new head coach! If you want to be elite, you have to hire elite! And Stansbury is just down the road in Raleigh, so he should lead the charge. Maybe he can get a raise at NCSU if he can help convince Bubba to hire Geoff.
Post is truly elite.

Like Harsin and Bronco, I wonder if Deboer is too long for Bama. Some guys just do better on the left coast
"Ears Whitworth" couldn't do it, Ray Perkins couldn't do it, Bud Carson couldn't do it, Bill Battle couldn't do it, Bill Lewis couldn't do it, Guerry Faust couldn't do it, Jerry Stovall couldn't do it, Bowden Wyatt couldn't do it, Billy Kinard couldn't do it, Ron Zook couldn't do it, that poor soul that followed Shug Jordan couldn't do it even with William Andrews and James Brooks to carry the ball for him. "Do it" as in follow a legend successfully. Many have tried and few, very few have done it successfully. Earle Bruce had some good years following Woody Hayes as did the guy that followed Darryl Royal at Texas but not many. Deboer is not long for this world if he ever loses to Auburn.

I can’t confirm this, but maybe it’s useful. UCF deciding between Scott Frost vs Barry Odom

Miami, at one point, had a legend who followed a legend who followed the guy that put Miami on the map.

Sort of a miniature version of Dodd following Alexander following Heisman. But, to your point, it is extremely rare for a coach to follow a legend and survive.

Let me guess. Howard Schnellenberger, followed by Jimmy Johnson and Dennis Erickson? Or maybe you mean Al Golden followed by Mark Richt and then Manny? Its the latter three isn't it?

A common UNC fan complaint about Mack Brown was his age (currently 73). Belichick is a whole 8 months younger, so I suppose that's a small step in the right direction.
Some people age much differently. Just looking at the two of them I would never have guess Bill is just 8 months younger than Mack.
