According to Tech's site, Parker Brosius had 6 homers in 170 games prior to graduation. Since graduation on May 7 in 12 games, he has hit 9!
I’m paraphrasing here …

The TV announcers interviewed Parker after last night’s game and asked him how has he been able to suddenly start hitting so many homers recently.

Parker started laughing and jokingly said it might be because he was finally finished with all of his classes.

Pretty much worst case scenario so far for the afternoon. Oklahoma already up 6-0 and their starter has only thrown 20 pitches through 2 innings. Not setting up well for them to burn a lot of bullpen arms for tonight.
Well, they are wearing themselves out swinging and running the bases, so maybe their arms will be too sore to lift the bat when they play us.

Do you thinks that this is further evidence of 'the shaft" and how we ALL blossom when out from underneath it's oppresive burden that attempts to drag us down, crush our spirits and squeeze the very life out of our marrow? Or am I overthinking it? Maybe he just found a rabbitt's foot or a 4 leaf clover or something.
I think part of it is having a load lifted from his mind and hence is able to fully concentrate on baseball, finally. I remember Tex saying when he went through Tech, his major was baseball and he had to come back to earn his degree. Plus, physical maturation, similar to Lackey, and 4 years of being coached by Ramsey have all played a major part as well.
That 2nd homer last night was hit off a damn good pitch low and outside that most hitters would have just fouled off He definirely has a lot of talent as a hitter in my opinion.

Well being there it was raining very hard. It is not just the playing surface but also the ability to grip the ball for both the pitcher and people fielding the ball. Glad they let it go on but I can definitely see the other side. Most importantly we won and our relief staff is in great shape for Game 6 and if needed Game 7
We were on the third base line. It looked like our head grounds crew guy was actually for stopping the game earlier based on body language and actions. You could see the two umps talking and someone come out from our dugout (not the grounds crew guy) who had been talking to the third base ump all not (presumably about the weather). Then two other people with lanyards and Devices (presumably showing radar) came out, then finally our head grounds few guy came out and he was being pretty demonstrative, shaking his head and then he and the ump went to the infield diet and started picking up handfuls. He didn’t look very happy when they decided to keep playing.

That pitcher was impressive, especially for a freshman. Kept the ball down and did not let some dirt balls bother him. 6 innings and 3 runs against us is a good evening of work.
I have been told they have saved their ace for the next game. Is this true? Whats the word on him?
Actually he gave up 5 runs in not quite 6 innings, so while he may have passed the “eye test” w a 97mph heater early and made us look bad w some changeups, the results (by ordinary standards) weren’t that good (8.65 ERA)

I think it goes back to the point @GT33 makes...that isn't bad in context against a team that averages somewhere between 11 and 12 runs pg.

I was really surprised they allowed the game to continue with the rain coming down like it was. The ground crew guys know better than anyone that the more water the field takes on (dirt parts) the more difficult and longer it takes to get it back to play on, especially the pitchers mound.

Knowing we’re the visiting team today, would be great to put a couple on the board top 1. Their offense has gotta be feeling good about themselves and I’m sure the chatter in the locker room is “we had them on the ropes last night, they just got lucky with the rain coming in and making it impossible to throw a strike.”

Let’s put them behind early and not feed any fantasies they may have of winning tonight

They just spent 3 hours developing bad habits against weaker pitching. We have them right where we want them. :)

Are the Greek houses off Fowler not doing that? They used to for regionals and super regionals if I recall correctly.
The Fowler guys probably stopped after GT planted the giant pine trees in right blocking their view.

I rushed Kappa Sig back in the day. They said the view of the game from their porch used to be fantastic…

Exactly. I would have done the same and am pretty damn sure Ramsey would have been even more animated than the Oklahoma coach had the situation been reversed. You don't ever want your pitcher trying to throw a wet baseball in a down pour in the crucial moments of a game, especially a playoff game. I was surprised the game was not stopped at that point but very thankful it was not.
The sec school didn't get their way boo fing hoo for them. I find it odd posters on here complaing about Tech getting an advantage every other sec home team gets. Take it and run and ask for another. Lose go home or keep advancing whats yall's choice?

Engineering school and all, would’ve expected Kappa Sig or Fiji to put up Wrigley style rooftop seats on their houses

We literally had to pitch in the same conditions (actually worse) against Wake Forest earlier in the year and I didn’t see Ramsey raising hell?

The starter went 7 and threw 105 pitches so I doubt we see him tonight.
