In the golf analogy, playing a safe iron off the tee and snapping it into the woods seems to have a far more detrimental effect on the outcome of a hole than it should vs hitting the driver there. At least for me and golfers of my ability. I think being 200 yards back and in trouble causes pressing rather than being 150 from the pin, knowing you can chip out and still have a reasonable shot at no worse than a bogey.

I’m sorry, this team hasn’t proven when it matters? If you really meant that, I’m going to have to fully disagree. As a program if you want to say that, stats back you up. But this team? The team that has a historical offense, multiple first round picks, averaging 10+ runs, ACC regular season champions, ACC tournament champions against the number 3 team in the nation, a 10 run comeback versus a dominant wake Forrest pitching staff, a 40+ win regular season. None of that is proving that this team can win when it matters?

This only reason this specific team (which all that matters for this year) hasn’t proven they can win in the ncaa post season is because it hasn’t happened yet. Right now I frankly don’t care about what has happened in the past, because we have never had this team before.

I knew some would push back. I know we have some transfers...do we have 1 single player who has won a single game in the postseason? I ask this in earnest. I am not detracting from them or the great season but postseason play in any sport IS a different animal. If you don't understand this, then we will have to agree to disagree here Young. ETA - I hope that they prove to be above and beyond any suspicion fwiw.

Couldn’t you also point to how many of these guys were part of historical teams before this? The guys who were here before never had this talent around them, and the guys who came in from Cal and Pitt definitely didn’t have this talent around them.

A lot of angst about starters. Got behind as usual. Glad we have Blakely and McKee for the next two; plus all relievers. Ballard only threw 59 but I think we have enough quality depth he's done till the Supers if we advance.

UIC is a bad fielding team, but we have a generational offense. And we starting subbing in the 5th.

Let's see when our next game is, right now 6pm tomorrow winners bracket.
