We lost, you can say oh we would beat them. That’s what Duke and Carolina are saying about us, oh we could beat them now.

Sure we could. What is the point of that exercise. I guess it feels good to you. Whatever makes you feel good is good.
Playing good defense gives a team a cushion of sorts to ride out injuries up to a point. This year's team tackles better in the open field than any Tech team I can remember going back quite a ways but the teams in the early 2000s would lay the lumber pretty good too. I saw KMike and Chris Reis hit a man so hard his helmet came off and I thought the boy's head might still be in it.

Haven't gone through this thread, so someone else might have already pointed it out: If GT beats NC State, we will be unbeaten at home this year. GT has not finished a season unbeaten at home since 1999.
We will more than likely be ranked with a win today. That'd set up a ranked matchup for COFH.

We are extremely unlikely to be ranked with a win.
We currently have 1 pt in the AP poll and 0 points in the coaches poll. You would need a win over a highly ranked opponent to get close to being ranked. NC ST is not that.

There are 12 schools including 4 ACC schools that have more points, but are not ranked in the AP Top 25.

Win today and against UGA and that would be enough for GT to likely be ranked.

Wins today & against Ugag would put the Jackets in the top 20.

It got mine - I went and looked and they are very up and down on run D. Clemson, Tennessee, and Stanford all ran for 200+ yards on them, but they have several games like Duke where their opponent couldn't run much.

I think we already know the run game is our key to success, just a matter of whether we can execute.

Adding a note that doesn't necessarily fit this thread but idk where else to put it: Georgia Tech is currently 2nd in all of FBS in sacks allowed (4), only surpassed by Army (3). The next closest P4 teams are Penn State, Kansas, and Ok State which have each allowed 9. That is crazy.
Clemson, Tenn, and Stanford all use a more traditional power run game with mobile QBs. Heavy zone blocking, H-back/TE use, Zone read, etc. Similar to the schemes we use.

Like you said, it comes down to our ability to execute and adjust. If they decide to sellout to stop the run, we'll have to be able to counter what they're doing. I trust Buster will have something for them.

I disagree. We're already just outside the top 25. The momentum of consecutive wins is a very real thing for voters - many of whom don't watch the majority of teams they're ranking and instead follow the trends. For TV purposes, they'll love a ranked matchup. The incentive structures in college football revolve around TV money.

Blessing and the curse of Thursday night. Everyone will be watching tonight. Voters might forget over the weekend.

There are a handful of teams ranked near 25 who have potentially tough matchups…. And they all have to travel.

#24 Illinois is at Rutgers this weekend.
#25 Wash St at Oregon St… road rivalry games are tough.
Maybe a little longer shot, but #22 Iowa St is reeling right now. Utes are pesky and it’s at Utah.

There’s opportunity for us, but we have to take care of our business.

Hopefully we are proactive and show confidIdence with BOTH qb. AND BOTH ARE GOOD AT DOING MORE THAN IN MIAMI. We will be seen as. EXCITING AND NOT 1 INJURY AWAY FROM TCU vs UGA = No chance and no viewers. .

. Kings dad said we are on course to get better and better for the bowl game.

I feel we are playing our best ball right now. CTS has made noticeable improvement in our D, especially pass rush and overall pressure they generate. We have developed true depth and versatility at the QB position- out of necessity. Same at the other skilled positions on O. The OL has depth we have not had since before CPJ.
I am very optimistic about the future of GT football. Key is now 17-14 in his tenure, despite have schedules that are some of the toughest in the country, and the disaster he inherited from TFG.
a sort of odd factoid is that we have at least five SENIORS on the DEF line. Now that's exp/depth and it showed at end with uM.

We are extremely likely to have delusional fans. All those predicting GT will score 34+ points. Hard to do with a starting QB who can’t throw and a true freshmen backup.

Well we got 30. 14 due to defense and 7 due to Philo showing he is a stud. Happy for Philo, King and the whole team! Great win.
