Man that was rough in the chat tonight. I’ve had my fair share of pissed off moments in the chat but it’s almost always when I feel coaching lets us down. I didn’t feel like that tonight and haven’t in a few weeks. Not sure what people are expecting from this team. They’re growing and games are going to be tight most of the time. NCST has very similar talent to us and has a good coach. We led almost the entire game. Made some boneheaded mistakes but came up with a huge win with a true freshman QB playing is 3rd real game. Chat needs a reset on expectations. This team o/u was 4.5 wins. Read that again. 4.5 wins. They just won their 7th game. We’re on the way up. Get your minds right. Go Jackets.
This is a tough and resilient team. We’ve been playing with a lot of injuries for almost the whole year yet the coaching staff has figured out how to squeeze everything they can out of the team, winning more games than any “experts” predicted. Key’s second winning season in a row after inheriting a dumpster fire program is almost miraculous.

Frustrating game. But better to win a frustrating one that to lose them like Syr/Lou.

Its the reality of the new world. Philo showed some good things tonight on a national stage. Other teams that need a QB are going to be giving him a call with a number in mind to gauge his interest. If he knows he is QB2 next year but can be QB1 elsewhere with some extra cash, he is going to consider it. I doubt Pyron stays after this season so you are possibly looking at King being QB1 coming off of an injury with basically true freshmen or an ok portal QB backing him up. Then King is gone. I would personally just jump to the future now with Philo and lock him up for 3-4 years.
How do you “lock him up” for 3-4 years exactly?

You go with whoever gives you the best chance to win in 2025 since there’s no guarantee anyone stays for 2026 these days.

Last one together as a 2024 WR room, I’m sure he’ll be back.

I hope he’s ok after that injury tonight though, we need him next week.

Stockton did great filling in though

19/33 265 0 TD / 1 INT, 7 rushes 57 yards and a TD

19/32 253 1 TD / 1 INT, 17 rushes for 66 yards and a TD

Two true freshman two years apart gutting out wins after being thrust into action after injury, and suddenly the GT QB room is deep enough that neither of them has been the main starter and people are ready to run one (or two in some cases) of those QBs off.

Good problem to have.

What? No, this was not a bad team with a bad QB. It was a middle ACC team with a FR QB, same as Tech most of the night.
They are 2-5 in the ACC now. Their only ACC wins are over the two bottom dwellers not named FSU. Tennessee beat them by 41 when they had a good QB. They aren't a good football team. We were a big favorite for a reason.

So crazy that we could not get any run going
They were ready to play. Coach D had his boys up for this one just like last week against Duke. Again, they lost a heartbreaker but they get one more chance to redeem themselves against Carolina who they would rather beat anyway. Should be a good game. State showed a lot of heart which is a tribute to their coaches.

Gee, you must really be close to Philo and his family to know that they value money over everything else. Not everyone chases the almighty dollar. Why not give the young man more credit than that. Maybe he might see more value in gaining another year of experience knowing he can start for two more years after that and walk away with a degree from Georgia Tech that will benefit him long after his football career has ended. And he may also believe he can be QB1 next year whether Haynes King stays or not.

I do agree with you, but he’s a freshman, still learning the nuances. When to rifle the ball and when to take a little off is one of the toughest things to learn, mechanically.
True but in his defense the one to Singleton had to be rifled because he was open only for a second in a crowd. I don't know about the one to the tight end. Seems he was more open and should have caught that ball but it was thrown hard for sure.

You could say this about every backup QB in the country that went elsewhere. Maybe he does have an undying love for GT that can't possibly be surpassed with money and guaranteed playing time. We will see.

I've stayed up to watch highlights on the SVP show and now SportsCenter... Unless I somehow missed it, nothing... Games' been over for over an hour now. WTF, ESPN... This was a game on your own network but yet you spent like 20 minutes recapping the Steelers game, which wasn't broadcast on ESPN.

Tossing aside every QB before their senior season so your Freshman doesn't transfer is not a very sustainable way to run a program.

First, I didn’t say they were good, I said they were mid-tier ACC. Second, other than Clemson they’ve lost 4 ACC games by a total of 22 points. They've been very close this season even losing their seasoned QB and having to go with a FR. They are a couple plays from being right where we are.

You know we coudl just pay him. I am sure there is a donor out there that can offer him a a payday to stay. THis kind of above board "cheating" actually favors our results driven alumni.

There is also the big thing thats about to happen. 105 roster limit. We are about to see a lot of kids without homes clouding up the portal and a race to the bottom just to get on rosters.

I never said every QB. If you have an injury prone starting QB and you really like what you have seen out of his young backup then you are in an awkward situation if that young QB starts getting attention from others. As crazy as it might sound, if we want to keep Philo without giving him the job, we are probably better off if he doesn't do all that well next Friday.
