Awesome win for the seniors!!! Philo is the real deal. My one complaint is he seems to put a little too much mustard on the 10 yard passes... Hawes drops a pass in his facemask cuz of too much zip.... Eric Singleton can't pull in a TD and it ricochets to a turnover in the end zone (which fortunately we got right back)... There was a pass or two in the VT game where we could have sustained some drives if he just took just a touch off on those short passes... That or our receivers need more stickum on their gloves.
I do agree with you, but he’s a freshman, still learning the nuances. When to rifle the ball and when to take a little off is one of the toughest things to learn, mechanically.

90% of the chat needs to come apologize to their GT brothers and sisters for giving up when the chips were down.

Man that was rough in the chat tonight. I’ve had my fair share of pissed off moments in the chat but it’s almost always when I feel coaching lets us down. I didn’t feel like that tonight and haven’t in a few weeks. Not sure what people are expecting from this team. They’re growing and games are going to be tight most of the time. NCST has very similar talent to us and has a good coach. We led almost the entire game. Made some boneheaded mistakes but came up with a huge win with a true freshman QB playing is 3rd real game. Chat needs a reset on expectations. This team o/u was 4.5 wins. Read that again. 4.5 wins. They just won their 7th game. We’re on the way up. Get your minds right. Go Jackets.

Really? WTF?
Its the reality of the new world. Philo showed some good things tonight on a national stage. Other teams that need a QB are going to be giving him a call with a number in mind to gauge his interest. If he knows he is QB2 next year but can be QB1 elsewhere with some extra cash, he is going to consider it. I doubt Pyron stays after this season so you are possibly looking at King being QB1 coming off of an injury with basically true freshmen or an ok portal QB backing him up. Then King is gone. I would personally just jump to the future now with Philo and lock him up for 3-4 years.

We have struggled to run against odd fronts and exotic blitzes this year. When you run a zone scheme you run into that problem. Thats teh short answer.

The long answer is in order to actually counter this we needed to get our toss run working the issue is that play really only works when it has hte threat of the midline off it or quick rpo. Ralph Freidgin would have gone to I formation sets and running his version of speed potion agains the ouside backer. Johnson would go to flex TIght and rocket toss a team doing that to death then hit them with PA (whcih we almost did just... dropped it). Nix would have ran Reggie on QB draws against 8 man coverage ( what essentially won us the game) The issue was their nose was beating double teams.

I know one thing Bailey Stockton for a freshman is a athletic hard nosed good route runner. He fits the bill of one of those guys that just produces season in and season out long way to go but he could be a guy that follows similar paths as Ladd McConkey not highest recruited guy average measurable but just knows how to get open, great hands, reliable.

What a crazy Game !!! Philo with a huge play but let’s be honest Without a Healthy Haynes King this offense is not the same . Philo will be good but you’re gonna get the freshman good and bad . Excited for the future with him playing one more year under King. Defense saved our bacon then lost it . Without those two turnovers we don’t win that ballgame . 7-4 feels good Go Jackets!

When King is healthy he’s awesome. Philo will be glad to play under/with him with Buster and Weinke for one more year. I’d rather have a healthy King than any other QB on our roster. I think the coaches would too.

He can even redshirt next year if we’re lucky with injuries.

King isn’t gonna give up his spot that easy.

Reminds me of that RDCWorld skit though
