Really goes to show you the team first mentality tight ship Brent Key runs when Eric Singleton Jr goes down at the 2 yard line to prevent Cam Ward from getting the ball back whereas Dave Doeren’s star gets his big ego touchdown and gives Aaron Philo back the ball with 1:30 when they could have kneeled it out and kicked a chip shot game winning field goal as time expires. Hope the stat padding was worth it buddy, enjoy this L all the way back to Raleigh.

The best thing that happened to us was them scoring on that big TD run with 1:30 to go. Philo is the real deal. Sloppy game, but a win is a win. Undefeated in the Dodd!

Two years in a row we get wins because boneheaded opponents gave us the opportunity.

I turned the tv off when it was 29-23. Glad i turned it back on, that game gave me a stress headache. I'll take the win though! Lots to clean up before next week.

For Ugag, it’s gotta be Philo with King playing a role similar to Pyron’s earlier in the season. It’s obvious King won’t be healthy again this season. No more of this true 2 QB offense

We have struggled to run against odd fronts and exotic blitzes this year. When you run a zone scheme you run into that problem. Thats teh short answer.

The long answer is in order to actually counter this we needed to get our toss run working the issue is that play really only works when it has hte threat of the midline off it or quick rpo. Ralph Freidgin would have gone to I formation sets and running his version of speed potion agains the ouside backer. Johnson would go to flex TIght and rocket toss a team doing that to death then hit them with PA (whcih we almost did just... dropped it). Nix would have ran Reggie on QB draws against 8 man coverage ( what essentially won us the game) The issue was their nose was beating double teams.

Philo was incredible that last drive. Let him loose in 8 days. Zero to lose. Hopefully we can come down with more balls that hit our hands.

44 has to be on the field. Wasn’t on for any other big play outside the last one. He is critical. First game all year our d got gashed running. D did have two huge plays that got us in position to win.

I thought that kick was in. Glad it wasn’t. It feels good to be on the good side of these game.

Win shows we progressed. Let’s hope for magic next week.
