The Falcons had a similar situation to that in 1972 when Falcons kicker Nick Mike-Myer missed a 20 yard field goal helping the Falcons lose 21-20 to the 3-11 Patriots. Coach Norm Van Brocklin wouldn't let him on the team plane and he had to find another way back to Atlanta.
