More resume fodder supporting our move to the B1G.

Facts.

But, yay, B1G refs every week ...

According to 680 Tech was the most viewed team in the conf on TV. Raw numbers the 1+ million that watched the Birmingham bowl placed Tech as the most watched team in the ACC this year.

I've been thumping my chest about this the most, but we have to agree it's about matchups. That being said, if GT moves to the B1G...WOW, the incredible potential matchups that expand the viewing map for the B1G. GT could quite possibly finally live up to its "sleeping giant" moniker outsiders have given us for decades. We just need to continue winning and continue to pull off upsets every season.

Doesn't surprise me at all. With our football history, the 3 most beautiful uniforms in all of football (GWG, WWB, and WWW), our devotion to academics as well as athletics, and a pass friendly offense, we are definitely fun for any football fan to watch when we play well.

These numbers were pretty heavily skewed by upsets, or near upsets against big name programs that were ranked in the top 10. Some of which occurred when no other game was on. Not saying that is a bad thing but im not sure its an indication that we are now the darlings of the ACC.

To be fair, last year FSU was beating a drum loudly that they had the most media views. And their numbers were skewed by being given more slots on network TV than cable.

IIWII. You can always find a reason why a team is getting more views than others. For us it was matchups - but also the fact that when we played a ranked team, we brought the chaos. I think that’s a pretty damn good reason to get more media views than others. If we’re known for knocking off ranked teams, at some point, it’s going to start looking like we belong with the ranked teams (provided we keep away from more BGSU losses).

The big question is, can the team that’s getting more viewership keep up that momentum? I think we can - the question is will we?

Here’s to more of this in 2025.

Next year will be tough. No Miami, ND, or FSU on the schedule. Only Clemson and UGA for potential big matchups. We do add Colorado though so we will get the Deion media attention.

True. Still, we can hope the talking heads will talk up some other teams due to them being “on the rise,” leading to rankings and attention. One can imagine Virginia Tech, NC State, and Syracuse getting that sort of treatment. Kind of a bummer us not drawing UNC next year, as they’re always overrated - and the advent of Belichick will only increase that media hype train.

Regardless, once we beat Colorado to start the season, here’s hoping we’ll be ranked and they’ll give us more attention in our own right.

FSU still is—they’re just being pickier about their cherry picking

Everyone would prefer to win more games, but the first thing we need to do is bolster our schedule wherever we can. Who really likes pounding VMI? Look at how many fans attended the dook-Ole Piss game. No interest. We need the best match ups we can get.

Next year we're stuck with Wake, dook, BC, Temple, Gardener Webb. Half our schedule is lame. Our only path next year is to blow all the bottom feeders out, win all the soft middle and hope we can win 3 of 5 against the teams that should give us a game. 8 wins minimum, should win 9 or possibly 10.

The schedule is fine. We don't pick our ACC opponents. OOC games against Colorado and Georgia are against teams that were both 10-2 this regular season. Not many teams play 2 such OOC games.

Winning matters. Just win and don't worry about beauty points. We are not at that point nor are we near the point where we look at an ACC team and say - oh we will kill them as it is a complete talent mismatch.

You're not wrong we're scheuling harder OOC than most, it's just we're stuck in the crap ACC and our program will never elevate with the line up we got. We need Auburn, Tn, SCe and maybe UF on the schedule on some sort of rotation. The Colorado deal is nice. Glad we got ND on our schedule periodically. Our weaker OOC should be teams like USF, UCF, Ky, Miss St, etc. The Gardener Webb, Temple, VMI type crap needs to go.
