This really is the most viable option. I told a buddy of mine that works in asset management that he needs to start a hedge fund and make $1Bn so we could throw $200MM+ at the GTAA.

Before 'throwing' money at the GTAA, maybe that operation needs a bit of a 'makeover' itself.

Totally agree. You'd expect some significant level of influence if an individual or group of individuals ponied up like that.
