With 6 of our 11 regular season games behind us, what are your thoughts on the following thus far?

1. Breakout Player of the Year
2. Offensive POY
3. Defensive POY
4. Biggest Surprise (can be a unit, statistic, team performance, etc.)
5. Favorite Individual Play

Feel free to add additional superlatives.

I’ll play:

1. Breakout Player of the Year - has to be TM
2. Offensive POY - KB
3. Defensive POY - maybe AJ Gray?
4. Biggest Surprise (can be a unit, statistic, team performance, etc.) - D-fence
5. Favorite Individual Play - QS flying through the air like Superman...(I know, last year - but cut me some slack).

1. Branch
2. TQM
3. Brant Mitchell
4. 3rd down defense
5. The 4th down stop against Wake to pretty much seal the game.

Hard to disagree with any of these. Taquon could fit in 1,2,4 or 5. Funny how much time we spent in the offseason debating the QB situation.

I think AJ is the defensive POY

Honorable mention to Tay Glanton (breakout) for grabbing the starting job and showing us why.

1. Quon
2. Benson or Parker/Will
3. All of them
4. D (75% of the time) and absolutely not D (25% of time)
5. Don't have one yet

1) TQM Tied with Benson
2) TQM
3) #20 Austin
4) Defense 3rd down turnaround from almost worst in country last year to almost best in country this year (amazing!)
5) TQM video game spin move

I agree with all this but for "Most Improved" from last year I would put Brant.

TM obvious, but I have to throw in Harvin, too. If our punting game was bad, we might have lost another game. I think he will have a game at some point where he is the MVP, similar to Brooks vs. Miami (year?)

2. Offensive POY
TM

3. Defensive POY
Simmons

4. Biggest Surprise (can be a unit, statistic, team performance, etc.)
How could anyone NOT say the defense?

5. Favorite Individual Play
OFF: KB breaking 3-4 tackles and busting loose for 60+ vs UNC.
DEF: VA sacking WF qb last Saturday on 4th down.

That was 2006 and we won 30-23.

defense is not a total surprise for me because we always had the kids to play better IMO; we needed to adjust the calls to be more aggressive. The surprise for me, is after 5 years, and 4 years of CPJ asking for it. Roof did it. So Roof, is the surprise for me; kudos to him for going outside his element and changing. These were not wholesale changes, but they were solid tweaks and stylistic changes/calls that helped.

With that said

1 TQM
2 TQM
3 #20
4 Roof
5 there are plays that don't show up on the stat sheet I enjoyed the heck out of watching on D with 20 playing solid inside and on O with OL. Pick those. Long runs happen...fun...but I really like the solid play aspect more than anything

Breakout
Tqm - was an A b to a maybe qb to first year qb who can run, pitch, and throw . In each game shows continued improvement in all three and last game Zero turn overs by offense. .
O POY
Will Bryan - name any other player who has played very well at 2 positions. Sacrifice playing his position while other player are developing.
D POY
Branch - he is the violence in the middle guy.
SURPRISE
That we finally are aggressive on defense. Has worked great against average teams
Play
In last game late -the toss sweep to #1 for TD. AB ran the curve as fast as i have seen and all the blockers all got just enough.

THE BIGGEST SURPRISE IS WE HAVE A TEAM OF OF SO MANY PLAYERS WORTHY OF MERIT. How can I not have KB on the list
