Miami Game Preview

I finally know what CBG basketball is supposed to look like. Defense leading to offense. That was exciting to watch. We had pace and purpose on offense until it was time to kill the clock. We didn't know how to play slow, but by that time Miami was in shambles. Loved seeing MGH play like he had a pair

Fogler was complimentary of Tech's previous performances - more than just being polite. He noted that Tech was a good defensive team and that BC was a good defensive coach; one would think our defense had something to do with the subpar play of miami guards. he also noted that teams needed shooters to get the offense going. and tonight we had them. good breaks; good drives to basket. the smaller line up appears to have opened space inside (as opposed to being jammed with bigs). and we didn't fold at the end. would two games like this make a trend?

Best part of the game was waking up this morning and verifying that it was not a dream!

The players were great last night, acting with determination & decisiveness, showing all of us what they're capable of, what they've always been capable of. I'll give credit to BG for putting the right lineup on the floor. In today's college game, as we've seen with Notre Dame, the big bruisers en masse don't always work.

That said, be very wary of Eddie Fogler being highly complimentary of the situation. Even if true, remember that he's th search consultant that LazyAD used as a crutch to choose BG in the first place. BG leading us to wins makes Fogler look competent as a search consultant.

I hope we play like last night for the rest of the season and turn it around. Regardless of people's feelings on BG, these kids deserve to feel the taste of victory more than they have to date.

a 20 point win over a ranked ACC team...on the road? Was that a dream? I'll take it any day.

Really proud of our team. They have been saying the right things and working hard behind the scenes, so I am really happy for them that it finally paid off in a win.

Here is what I saw:
-Good defense. Active and aggressive, jumping passing lanes, and even (gasp!) closing out on the three point line a few times.
-Defense leading to offense. This was the key, IMO. Jorgenson is especially adept at leading the transition, and getting quick buckets from defensive steals or long rebounds is essential when you have a crappy offense.
-Which, wasn't nearly as crappy tonight. The offense was actually a positive, but it looked to me like Miami was lazy and lacked effort on defense (especially the second half). MGH has to be THE MAN for us to continue to win, and we have to get production from the 2G like we did tonight. We should mostly give up on shooting 3s.

Great win, guys. We proved that we can hang with the big boys and close one out. Now let's go do it again! Go jackets!

We actually looked aggressive tonight on offense. We weren't really hitting 3s tonight either but for once we weren't trying to rely on them. I also think that's the best starting lineup for us as well with Jorg, Sampson, and Bolden as the other 3 with Cox and MGH. All those guys compliment each other very well.

MGH has been playing well these past two games. If we're going to have an offense, he's the one we need with the ball in his hands. Usually he disappears for great lengths of time in games but these last 2 he's made it a point to be aggressive and making sure the ball stays in his hands.

With all that I couldn't figure out what scouting report Miami read on us because their defense made no sense. We're not a bad offense with regards to turnovers, we're a bad offense because of shooting. Miami constantly pressuring the ball just invited us to the basket instead of giving us the open 3 for us to miss.

Yeah, This team played last night like the team many of us thought they were before the season and certainly after the UGA game. A team capable of 5-7 ACC wins and winning 15-17 games on the season.

Is it sustainable? we are gonna find out.

Pretty much this. So proud of the guys. I know this win certainly lifted their spirits.

Glad @dtm1997 pointed out Fogler's role here. I wasn't sure how to word it but dtm put it well. Whenever I see/hear Fogler I get steamed. What qualified him to pick anybody's coach much less ours.

Anyways, I only saw parts of the 2nd half but the D, effort, energy and everything else I saw were light years ahead of how we'd played earlier this year even in our wins. Great to see.

The quick offense made our mistakes matter less. Anyone remember Q shooting a dumb 3 pointer which hit nothing? What about Bolden driving and bouncing the ball off his leg? Those would have hurt a lot more if we were using the entire shot clock for our possessions like we always seem to want to do. I'm not sure we can play with that pace all season, but it's really the only way we can win. Our half court offense is still not good

I agree. I told my wife as I was going to bed last night that I'm going to wake up in the morning and remember that the Tech/Miami game is tonight.

I agree, we need to pick up the tempo to have better offense, but, last night, the halfcourt sets finally looked not bad either. Picks were set with more authority. Passing was generally crisper. What about Bolden choosing to shot fake the 3 and step in a few feet for an uncontested easier 2? He could've been doing that all along.

All this said, we played tenacious, aggressive defense. We hounded their players and it paid off creating easy buckets on the other end.

Bolden has some skills and I agree he should really open up his game. He's known as a shooter so that pump fake could be a killer. As soon as they don't bite, you have an open 3 pointer. He's very streaky so getting those 10-15 foot shots he could make in his sleep are critical to getting him going

Without taking anyting away from our guys, Fogler drives me crazy as an analyst. He drones on and on and comments on obvious points on the floor. He is among my least favorite color guys.

Maybe the private yacht ride with "escorts" was cancelled due to poor weather and they lost all will to play. They have some wins over teams who were thought to be good at the time, but the bad losses will surely bite them come tournament time... I'm just glad we're one of them (not glad we're bad, but you know what i mean...)
