Two games @6PM, April 25 @GT and May 16 @ Mercer.

Mercer is doing ok this year; expected to come in second in SoCon they are currently 8-4 and in a three way tie for first with Wofford and Samford. They have gone 4-4 against Quadrant 2 teams like us. Most of their games so far have been against weaker teams which has hurt their RPI. This year they play GT and FSU from the ACC which won't help their RPI much (or ours).

Figure a staff day pitching. No game notes yet at https://ramblinwreck.com/2023-baseball-game-notes/

Weather looks nice with some clouds. Rah rah.

GTNavyDuke, could you please provide the same current summary information on Georgia Tech here?

i.e., 2023 Georgia Tech Schedule, Records, Last 10/Streaks, Rankings/Strength of Schedule (SOS), and Quadrant Records - RPI

Thank you!

Tech needs Compton to stay healthy the rest of the way. He has already missed a whole bunch of games from two hamstring pulls.

This is a more dangerous team with Compton in the lineup. His grand slam home run against Mercer in tonight’s game was huge!
Tech needs our pitching to pitch like they did tonight. Not to give up 18 walks and 3 HPB in a game. Although we had a lot of innings that could have gotten out of control tonight... Fortunately they didn't. But pitching is the key to us doing anything useful for the rest of this year.

Not making excuses for CDH or CDB but losing all three weekend starters and Cam Hill was devastating. Not having Compton in our lineup everyday hurt on the offensive side. All things considered we have a narrow path, but I think the fact we have a path however slight shows that we some really talented players. Clearly the team is well coached and hasn’t quit.

Compton is far from 100 percent but when you hit home runs, there is no need run hard. Just a different lineup when he is in it.
Compton back in the lineup along with Rubenstein getting out of his slump does something else that is very important. It lets Jackson bat 9th. He has been fairly steady at the plate plus he does a much better job than Minnick or some of the other bottom of the lineup choices at hitting the ball to the right side to advance the runners. I think Jackson batting 9th increases our chances of turning the lineup over and bettering the odds of plating multiple runs.

Tonight at 6pm... a roadie.

Georgia Tech looks to make a push in the RPI race, currently one of 17 teams nationally with 12+ top-50 RPI wins, ranking tied for fourth in the ACC in Q1 RPI wins.
Looking like a staff game tonight with multiple guys getting just an inning or two. Haven't seen a starter announced yet.
