This. It's been obvious to anyone who has watched any of Tech's games.I’ve been trying to tell yall that. He hasn’t been healthy all season. He told me today he wasn’t sure when he’d be back.

That’s fairAw, don't fret. It's not just you. Nobody listens to us old heads anymore. I haven't read a post from @Peacone36 in like 6 years.![]()
You know, almost exactly the opposite of blaming the players, but most of us already knew that.
57 has let all the noise on here convince him that Damon is the Devil…lol
And, to give them the benefit of the doubt, these are young people negotiating the same brave new world that mature adults have created and don’t even know quite how to handle themselves. Reminding them that they still have to get back to the grind is necessary though.I think at some point the players deserve some heat though, correct? As a coach, I can get you shots, but you gotta make em. I can give you a defensive assignment I think you can win, but you gotta get down and play with your feet.
the fact that these players are drawing a negotiated salary only draws more attention when they fail/play poorly. Thats a part of the trade off.
Sheeeeeeeeeeee…….And, to give them the benefit of the doubt, these are young people negotiating the same brave new world that mature adults have created and don’t even know quite how to handle themselves. Reminding them that they still have to get back to the grind is necessary though.
Not disagreeing with you. Just saying the “Dutch uncle” talking too is both more necessary than ever yet more difficult to hear with all the money flying around these kids.Sheeeeeeeeeeee…….
That’s life. I don’t run $30MM construction projects because it’s a good time. I negotiated a salary commensurate with my experience and perceived worth. I have to live up to that perception/promise in order to justify the salary/title I demanded to accept the position.
Now, the argument can always be made that management isn’t putting you in a position to succeed….
“Progress” is accepting that instead of 95-5 coaches responsibility, it’s going to shift to 70-30 ish when you’re collecting a large sum of cash.
I like that Lamar appreciates and pulls for Cole. That’s a good sign that the whole roster is bonding. CDS was pleased about that too.Yay for a win! At this point, we will take all the wins we can get, even over low level teams. I saw some spark in the second half of this game that could be the sign that this team is turning the corner towards better play (please!). Here are some notes:
The Good:
-Washington is coming into his own, and is getting more comfortable leading the offense and putting the team on his back. I really like how he took the ball to the rim, hit a few mid-range shots, and even made a 3. His FT shooting was key. In his last four games he is averaging 6 assists to 2 turnovers, which is exactly what he had in this game. I think we have found our PG. He even got 8 rebounds yesterday!
-Having a more consistent PG has meant better distribution and ball movement (to my eyes, at least). This makes everybody a better shooter (well, almost everybody).
-Reeves is one of the biggest beneficiaries, and he has lit it up two games in a row. He had 23 points again, 3 rbs, 2 assists, and 2 blocks (and we were +15 with him on the court). If he had not gotten in foul trouble, his line would have been even better.
-COLE KIROUAC! Dude was ballin'. Seriously, he played hard and he played smart. He didn't force anything and had some critical rebounds and blocks.
-Defense picked back up, although fouls were an issue. I'll take foul trouble if it means we are playing hard and defending well. Monmouth only shot 34%. I'll take that every game.
-Free throws! Finally, a game where didn't look totally inept at the free throw line. 81% is really good, and helped seal the win for sure. Interestingly, if you remove Sylla's FTs, our team shoots a respectable 70.4%. Unfortunately, we can't remove them (or unsee them!).
The bad:
-Craft missing more 3s. He has to be shooting around 15% at home, but I haven't run the numbers. He was a big 0 for 4 in this one. Thankfully, he has found ways to contribute outside of his shot, but we really need him to be the guy he was advertised to be (and not just on the road!).
-14 minutes to Kelley. I just don't know what CDS sees in him. Yes, he is a "veteran" who plays decent defense, but he offers little else. His +/- was the lowest of all GT players.
-Fleming had a rough game, but thats going to happen for a freshman. He (and others) missed a lot of "gimmes" at the rim.
-Sylla has to learn how to stay out of foul trouble.
The interesting:
-Marshall comes in and turns the ball over, gets sent to the bench and never comes back in (in a game where we didn't have Ndongo!). I think CDS is sending a message and I hope it was received. We will need him in the long-term.
This could be a game that we look back and say that they finally got the coach's message and started playing with tenacity and effort, or they could just go back to their old ways in the next game--we shall see. I'm glad Ndongo was able to rest. We need him healthy come ACC time. As for all the "FIRE CDS" talk...I have seen enough to say I am skeptical of his coaching ability, but its way too early to call for his head. If we bomb the ACC season, then we can bring out the pitchforks, I guess. Either way, I will keep yelling....Go Jackets!
Thank you. Anyone putting this all on coaching doesn’t know what they’re talking about. It would be great if we could narrow all our problems down to the staff, but it’s def not that simple.I think at some point the players deserve some heat though, correct? Let me make this crystal clear. I like CDS. I have from the very first. And I, probably more than any of you, wanted him to succeed. I am one of the most optimistic GT fans there is. 60 year contributor. Being chastised for an honest opinion is an insult to the integrity of this board. We'll see who's right. You know.Watching him become oddly radicalized against CDS has been both fascinating and terrifying, tbh.

Interesting that your honest opinion is appropriate and respectful and everyone else’s opinion is chastising.Let me make this crystal clear. I like CDS. I have from the very first. Who exactly have I personally chastised on the board? Name please.Interesting that your honest opinion is appropriate and respectful and everyone else’s opinion is chastising.
Once again, an interesting take.
Are you chastising me?Who exactly have I personally chastised on the board? Name please.
The "heat" should applied behind closed doors IMO, not in post-game pressers like he always does.I think at some point the players deserve some heat though, correct? But he praised their effort in public. Even named specific players. The "heat" should applied behind closed doors IMO, not in post-game pressers like he always does.
Doesn't EVERY coach want their guys to play hard? What he does isn't leadership and why he will keep failing, even with "his" 4* guys.
You can’t get paid without expectations, you can’t fall short of expectations and not have consequences. The "heat" should applied behind closed doors IMO, not in post-game pressers like he always does.

Sounds like you know a lot more about what goes on in practice and team meetings than the rest of us. All I know is what I see publicly.Cool. Is that what your boss does at work - or what you do if you're the boss? Hold team meetings and let everyone know how much these guys here stink? I imagine that builds great team chemistry.
If someone isn't performing you let them know *directly* and you hold them accountable through action, not rhetoric.
