I was literally just about to write, "Chuck Oliver is an idiot" when I read this, lol.

Georgia wanted Calvin bad...he picked us...had nothing to do with the other four guys going there

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think Chuck's point about Calvin was that out of the top 5 WRs in the state that year, ugag got 4 of them, and CJ was the only one to make an impact. Pretty much saying GT went 1/1 and ugag went 0/4, at least that is how I interpreted it.

Also, I am surprised KQ didn't bring up Cottrell as a possible playmaker. I guess time will tell if we really have those difference makers to take this offense to another level.

Gotta step foot on the field first. He's been injured pretty much since his first month on campus. GT has had quite a few practice legends that never translated to the field.

I've heard a few guys who've seen Cottrell in practice describe him as Christian McCaffery light. I certainly hope so!

GT recruiting: "Georgia Tech is like the last girl at the bar.."

Thanks, KQ! Totally makes me want to subscribe to his service now.

I didn't take it that way. Chuck said something along the lines of UGA already had 4 of the 5 top receivers in the state and that it takes a special circumstance like that for GT to land a big recruit. I don't remember that he said anything comparing CJ to the four UGA players.

He's spot on with that statement unfortunately. Our recruiting is beyond embarrassing.

I'm the first in line when it comes to beating the drum that GT should recruit in the 30's consistently, and top 20 every 4-5 years. But even in the ACC, we're not "the last girl at the bar":

That Duke was able to lift itself from the bottom of recruiting ranking in all of the P5 to top 5 in our conference is a bit embarassing as a GT fan...TBH.

"Last girl at the bar" Maybe if all your looking for is something extremely easy that is going to end up being a empty promise ( maybe a trip to the Dr's office). GT is more like finding a long term relationship that leads to a fantastic 40 years!

we don't recruit well on the lines especially. What does this mean?

For me this means not landing 5 star at all. It means more numbers and better talent projection and development. In the past we did a good job developing kids on the lines. Anoai, Walker, Roberson, Oliver, etc; kids that were just avg recruits became all acc and bigtime contributors. We don't do that today well....part is picking the right kid, part is development, part is fitting kid to a scheme (we don't see to have that on D). I think the only kid we really developed along the way well was Gotsis, but to be honest, if he was in the USA; and a high school football kid, he probably would have been a 4-5 star guy...he actually was just a good talent.

Anyway....
