Just double checked. He was an AHC at Temple and just DL coach here. Wonder if that rubbed him the wrong way?
Thacker made a point in one of his interviews to say that CGC is the greatest defensive coordinator in college football but just happens to be a dynamic HC too. Then kept saying no one on staff cares about titles or coaches with ego and that everyone takes feedback / instruction from coach.
Wonder if this move shows Paganos wasn’t feeling the same way?

Yeah, there were the rumors about us going after Eric Henderson as first choice for DL coach. Panagos might have not liked feeling he was the backup plan.

Marco Coleman (even with 1990 coaching, S&C, and nutrition) would’ve not only started, but probably have been our best defensive player on every PJ defense since Derrick Morgan.

Thompson is a great recruiter but not considered all that great a d-line coach by some. Maybe that's why he's bounced around so. Pedigree but then end up disappointed with performance? USCe is now moving on from him.

He just finished his first year coaching, but he also played in the league for 14 years, so the man knows Dline play and has been around the best in the business coaching it.
Was Paganos actually signed? It would be sweet to make Minnesota pay the AA some money.
