as usual put your pre and post game thoughts, comments, reactions, complaints, etc in this thread. Game is at 2pm on ACC Network EXTRA, so it will be more difficult to watch depending on your TV/streaming provider. Obviously, if you are in town and have a clear schedule come on down to the thrillerdome!

After a nice and much needed victory over VT, Tech goes into the weekend winning two of our last three. Our opponent tomorrow is Florida Tech.
....who you ask? EXACTLY. Should be an easy win. If (god forbid) we somehow lose this game Pastner would be ejected out of Atlanta. That should not happen. We beat Clayton State by 30, and we are playing better now than we were back then.

I'm looking forward to it. I haven't been able to make the last couple due to work and personal obligations.

Hoping to see us stay sharp and win big...

This, it would be nice to have the game in hand early, so we can give some of the developmental players time in a game

Don't sleep on Florida Tech. It played Auburn close. Funny that this game counts for us, but is considered an exhibition for Florida Tech.

Counts for what? There is only the ACCT to play for right now. Every other game is simply a game that matters not a lick except to the players desire to win.

Interesting - if you go to FIT’s site, they show the game as an exhibition. Pretty good size, over half European players. 16-10 overall, 9-9 in their conference. Should be an easy win, but who knows with this team. Hopefully Smith will be back.

Actually, they didn’t play real Auburn - they played (and beat) Auburn-Montgomery. Haven’t played a P5 conference team this year.

Per the AJC: It has been Pastner's belief that his teams, rather than resting during the open date in the ACC schedule, are better off playing a team to keep their rhythm. However, it is highly difficult to find another Division I opponent that has an open date in January or February that corresponds with Tech's and is willing to give it up to play a non-conference game. Hence, the Jackets generally have had to go to Division II to find a team eager to accommodate Tech and give its players the chance to play an ACC opponent (and also accept a payout). It is not the convention. The Jackets are the only ACC team this season that filled its open date with a non-conference game and the only team in the league to play a Division II team.

Pastner's philosophy would seem to have particular logic this season. Tech (10-16) has won two of its past three games after losing the previous nine and might benefit from continuing to play rather than wait until Tuesday to play again at Pittsburgh.

"We're just playing better," Pastner said after the Jackets' 77-70 home win over Virginia Tech on Wednesday. "We're playing cleaner. We're playing a full 40 minutes. Just proud of our guys."

In Pastner's tenure, Tech has won its four games against Division II opponents by an average of 93.5-57. Florida Tech has fit in the Jackets between games against Sunshine State Conference opponents Embry-Riddle and Lynn. The Panthers are 16-10 and are tied for fifth in their conference.

This was brought up before the season and I looked into it. To summarize what I found, teams can claim games as exhibitions under certain circumstances and it allows them to not count it against their max number of games. There are different scenarios that can happen and different rules for different levels. IIRC there is a rule that allows a div 2 team to count a game against a non div 2 four year college as an exhibition so it doesn't count against their max number of games, but I believe for D1 either exhibitions have to be before the start of the season, or if you have a closed scrimmage, or something to that effect, you aren't allowed to also have an exhibition.

In any case the exhibition tag is pretty much just for the max number of games purpose. the FIT coach isn't going to not treat it like a real because otherwise it would limit opportunities for his future teams to play against big name schools because it wouldn't be worth it to us. Among other reasons obviously.

First 10 minutes or so we're not so jolly in the rebound ledger.

Glad we finally seemed to get better.

Wish the last 4 to 5 minutes could have been all walk-on and freshman playing. But we did not have the cushion needed to do so.

Was tickled for Hill to get the dunk, with 3 seconds left, even the the game was long since out of reach.
