It would have been nice if fans had been informed of the decision to move UGA to MBS while it was still under consideration rather than when it's a done deal. For all the money Tech will get for it, how much of that will actually come from Tech ticket buyers, since the game is not included in the season ticket package?
Based on the past several games in Atlanta, UGA fans will pay 80% and Tech fans will pay 20%. So from a business standpoint, and looking to fill the coffers of a school saddle with immense debt, it makes sense.
As a sidewalk Tech fan for the past 45 years, Tech fans have no one to blame but themselves for these predicaments. if we were filling the bleachers at BDS, this would never be necessary. it saddens me that with the amazing job CBK and his incredible staff has done, fans are still not selling out our stadium even for a number 4 team like Miami. Fortunately, we have a great and loud student fan base. Without them, we are on par with Duke and Wake. I have always thought that we have had better coaches and teams than were warranted by our fickle fan base.: Ross, O’Leary, Johnson, and now Key. When we have bad teams, we say there is no reason for the fans to come until the team gets good, but then when the team gets good, attendance increases only modestly. We either have to accept that we are going to be second tier or do something about it. But with all Canrera and Batt and Key have done, a sell out for a home game would be a great way to express our appreciation. We cannot expect to keep a good AD with these obstacles. Having said all of that, I will stay loyal because ai love going to the games. Go Jackets!
