Maybe so. If that is true, that a mid-tier SECheat team can triple what we pay, then I’d say JBatt hasn’t really accomplished what he came here to do. Like I said, he's laid some good footers, but that’s about all, if that’s the case.

I expect a guy who is openly hired to rebuild a sound financial foundation to plan on staying 8-10 years. I consider this especially true with the institutional support he’s been given. I can only imagine that Pres. Cabrera cannot be pleased, but maybe that’s just me.

ETA: The fact that he hasn’t yet publicly denied it is telling. I don’t think this will end well.

I’m actually getting worried as I checked all the candidates Twitter and they all wished their fan base a Happy Thanksgiving except J Batt..

Eli reported earlier that Batt is now at 850K which sounds correct since the AJC article below is from March of 2023. GT is competitive within the ACC as shown below. However, we need to bring the dollars necessary to keep J Batt. He has rallied the fan base to the cause. Need to keep it going.

The UGA Athletic Director makes 1.025 million per year with annual raises of 100K through 2029 plus performance Bonuses.

From AJC--March 2023:

"Georgia Tech athletic director J Batt’s contract runs five years and will pay him $750,000 annually. Batt, hired in October, also received a $50,000 signing bonus."

"Batt’s contract was obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution through an open-records request. Batt is also eligible to receive up to $100,000 annually in performance incentives for hitting athletic, academic and financial performance goals set by Tech President Ángel Cabrera."

"The contract value is slightly lower than two peers in the ACC who also recently became first-time athletic directors. Clemson’s Graham Neff and Louisville’s Josh Heird both signed contracts worth $850,000 annually in 2021 and 2022, respectively. While it would stand to reason, given that Neff and Heird oversee larger operations, Tech’s financial commitment has also been demonstrated in other categories, such as the increase in salary pool for football coach Brent Key’s staff."

Some people act like he hasn’t done anything good for GT. I’m going to be incredibly disappointed if it’s true and he leaves for USC-e but I’m not going to suddenly forget the good things he’s done and hopefully the start to many more good things. He took over a dumpster fire and has done some pretty good things for us. Hopefully we have him a bit longer but I’ll be sad when he leaves.

If he's gone, I feel much better about our future prospects because of Cabrera's stance on athletics. I trust he will find someone to take the wheel and keep us in the right track.

Maybe so...but you cannot have a revolving door at AD...so hopefully President can find someone who wants the job not just the money
