Yeah, not great timing before the big game and before the recruiting class is nailed down. But, people have to plan their own career path.

I hope you are right. At the least, hopefully Batt is keeping Cabrera aware of where the negotiations stand.

That is just the thing to me...they SEEM close, he SEEMs committed...if it was all an act and he bails at year 2 for money then well it is pretty low

Tech SHOULD match the offer. Batt has done an excellent job with fundraising and getting Tech away from the good ole boys club. He just made a splash hire 3 days ago. I personally think this is all rumors.

The highest paid AD in the SEC makes 2.1 million. Batt makes 850k here. I doubt South Carolina is going to make him the highest paid AD in the conference..

I’ve read the South Carolina boards and they all are pretty confident it’s Hunter Yurachek and that seems to be who the fan base wants..

Maybe so. If that is true, that a mid-tier SECheat team can triple what we pay, then I’d say JBatt hasn’t really accomplished what he came here to do. Like I said, he's laid some good footers, but that’s about all, if that’s the case.

I expect a guy who is openly hired to rebuild a sound financial foundation to plan on staying 8-10 years. I consider this especially true with the institutional support he’s been given. I can only imagine that Pres. Cabrera cannot be pleased, but maybe that’s just me.

ETA: The fact that he hasn’t yet publicly denied it is telling. I don’t think this will end well.
