After Perkins' injury, I thought it might have been a good idea to get Leggett out there at BB some. This would allow us to still put Days at AB some. As it looks right now, our best two blocking ABs are unavailable at that position. They are also the two that can get tough yards (although Snoddy showed this last week, too.)

Coach said Connors earned more pt with his performance so I think Leggett's ship has sailed for the season.

This forgets that we have one AB who is both a reliable blocker and can get those tough yards: Deon Hill. Expect him to be on the field a lot more this week.

I can't help to comment on "our 2 best blocking" abacks(and probably best.) --are also the 2 BIGGEST .Yet folks are still go ape-s--- over recruiting 175lb backs/WR s.SIZE matters!
I'm sorry but it has taken 4-5 yrs for our smallest abacks to get even to 2nd string. We should not recruit a back less than 190lb unless he has JET speed--see Snoddy-- AND skills.

I'm glad you waited until Robbie left to institute this policy. :)

Andrews, Snoddy, Hill and Willis all meet your 190 pound limit. I'd be willing to bet Lynch is there too after a year of college level S&C.

And let's not forget Tony Zenon is probably the best receiver out of all of our A-Backs; maybe even our second best receiver behind Smelter.

Can we also apply this arbitrary limit to quarterBACKS and defensive backs? Because Justin Thomas was listed at 175 in HS and you made this same argument about the Austin twins.

Your (unjustified) opinion is offensive to the players, is ignorant of actual performance on the field, and it adds no value to the conversations on these boards.

You absolutely said that. See your comments on June 28, 29 in a thread about Lance Austin http://gtswarm.com/threads/ken-sugiuras-article-on-lance-austin.2881/

In that thread, you claimed lance weighed 175 lbs. You also implied that he can only play rover? but anywho, when Eric said that Lance weighs more than 170, you essentially replied "He isn't 6 ft,200+ which is what most would want". Since Law is Lance's identical twin, I think it's reasonable to infer that you also think Law is too small to play, as you put it, "big boy football". After all, your only qualification for this point is the players height/weight.

As for Justin Thomas, he did weigh, per rivals, 175 lbs in HS. You said we should not recruit a back that weighs less than 175 lbs unless he has jet speed, where jet speed = snoddy. Well, Thomas doesn't have Jet speed, see .

Perhaps you meant an a-back (and not a back?)? I didn't read it that way because (1) that's not what you wrote (2) you applied your arbitrary 175 pound weight limit to defensive backs this summer (3) why would 175 lb athlete be too small to play a-back, but not too small to play qb?

In any case, you offer 0 evidence to support your claims. Why did you even bring it up in this thread in the first place? For what it's worth (which isn't much), you don't come off as credible to me. I read your username as alabama guy, which isn't a very respected stereotype. you have an unexplainable obsession with the weight of 18 year old kids. And in responding to these criticisms, you start talking about the hair color of team managers? Maybe it's just me, but all of these things, in the absence of any factual support, are red flags. But regardless of my opinion, just reconsider being hostile towards GT's recruits. These kids worked hard to get to this point of their careers. As a GT fan, at least let them start with a clean slate before you doubt them. I'll reiterate what I said this summer - If you want to keep being negative, I'll keep calling you out for it. Really, I have way too much free time on my hands. It doesn't bother me at all.

Gee, you must be correct.Everyone of the guys we recruit is PERFECT and has the capability /size/ speed to get us to above the 7-6 rut that we are stuck-in. OR it is just terrible coaching that gets these perfect guys to 7-6.
btw--for facts-according to Phil Steele magazine-a very authoritative source
of his TOP 30 running backs in college fball exactly TWO were listed under 200 lbs (at 195),so it may be a shock to you but the correlation to bigger is better is real not only there but every position really
-also when I played hi school fball I was the smallest starter on the team,(a back), so I am certainly not anti-small guys, but I know that we couldn't have many of me on the team to be successful
funny making a slur about Alabama people being not "respected" says as much about your negative attitude as you think I have. btw- I reside there now but born and raised in Ga
which also is a "stereotype" to you?

headed to alabama today to see relatives. I have no problem with Ala fball love as long as no one brings a gun or poison for my trees. I understand the size point but fully understand that a guy 5feet 9inch and runs a 4.2 forty might be better than a guy who is 6feet 2inches and runs 4.65 . That is why Ala dbs are not 6feet 2 inches and 210. when all things are equal , big is better but I would love to have Jessie Tuggle and Berry Sanders because all things are not equal!
