Lots of returning competition at OL, DB, and LB. Gray and Vic maybe. We know one BB will be a freshman. Quaide has the inside track but Marshall or L-Davis have a shot (one probably moves to AB). Probably two ABs play, likely Cottrell and a real battle among several good choices for that other one. One WR and again a real battle between Philpott and Howell. Probably one or two play on DL, likely Henderson and maybe ST Amour. Lots of possibilities based on practice and off season work.

Brad Stewart, Carvell said he would be a starter by the end of the year. Just kidding, I am most excited to see AJ gray,he is a great athlete and I look forward to seeing what he can do focusing only on one side of the ball.

My vote for surprise of the class is tq marshal. Very electric player, if he can add weight without losing that athleticism he could be a very good a back.

I would not be surprised to see Stewart playing a good bit by mid season because I think he will pick up on his blocking assignments pretty quickly. It's not on his highlight tape, but he was darn good down field blocker when the ball wasn't coming his way in the games I saw. I think it's pretty evident all our skill position recruits know what to do with the ball in there hands, it's what they do without it that will determine how fast they see the field.

If he can fully recover, then Jaylend is who I’m most excited about. Forget all about the feel good story stuff and just focusing on him as a player, he has everything we need in a QB to succeed JT.

Besides him, I’ll go with future line anchors Will Bryan and Kyle Henderson. Philpott will make the biggest splash from a skill position down the road.

I know this is outside the box, but the "new" guy I'm most excited about next season is Jabari Hunt-Days. I know he's not new in the truest sense of the word, but the fact that he sat out a year and changed positions and was hailed the best player on the D last year even though he never played a down is good enough for me.

He will transform our defense, mark it down.

I agree with DCS....You will notice that I think the D side is the most important. It is not that I take the O side for granted, but PJ's offense has moved the ball and scored every year. Whatever guys end up being the new guys on that side will work, in my opinion, especially with JT5 at the helm.

Here is how I would rank my excitement right now about "new" guys:

1. JHD - because it is obvious that our DT position is where we are lacking the most
2. ASA - Because having another DE to help free up Keshun or one of our LB's will help the pass rush
3. Vic - Heavy hitter with a mature, strong body (more depth and talent at LB)
4. AJ - Perfect replacement for IJ; probably more potential than IJ
5. Kyle - see #1 above
6. Brant - see #3 above
7. Dante - more depth at CB (maybe a lock down guy and great tackler on the outside)
8. Will - maybe an immediate OL starter

Offense
When Cottrell runs the counter to the rocket to he will be a threat to go all way. Also his speed makes him a deep threat on passes. This speed will keep safeties deep and make them keep eyet on him making others more effective.
Defense
With nealy leaving , VA will fill the middle and let pj create havoc in the much more agressiVe defense.
Am sure NC and VA will arrive with chip on shoulder .

If Cottrell can catch the ball without fumbling, I'd have him returning kicks day 1. He's that scary fast. Vic Alexander is gonna run out knocking fools out like a deranged prison guard. I wouldn't be shocked if he's starting early. Will Bryan looks ready. We're in a spot where we don't NEED an OL to get on the field day 1, but it may be hard to keep him out. MLD is exciting. I think he can get on the field early.

Man, there's a lot of kids in this class I think can go soon, if not today. Hell, Henderson, Glanton, Saint-Amour, Wigley, Philpott...all guys who could potentially play next year. I say don't give out any redshirts until game #1. Find out who your best are, regardless of age...

NC in 2016?? Come on man, let's not even start predicting that. We're startig to sound like the mutts.

Do you have a cold?

By the way, imo, I think it is much more mutt-like to think that GT won't be competitive for the NC. We won 11 games last year and could've/should've won the games we lost. We beat a team that was #1 for 4 or 5 weeks. We finished #7/#8.

I don't think it's that much of a stretch to think that we could put the pieces together to win-out in the next few years.

I think the recruit that has the best chance to see the field first and make an impact is Cotrell. Sure, he'll be green as celery and there will be doubts - probably well founded - about his being able to handle blocking chores at AB. But you simply don't sit machine timed 4.3 40 players on the bench. The minute Cotrell steps on the Tech campus he will be one of the fastest players in the ACC; nay, in the Southeast. You find a way to get players like that on the field. Pronto.

I think Kirvonte Benson has something to say about that.

My "1-8 type" players in this class:

Anree Saint-Amour
AJ Gray
Will Bryan
Christian Philpott
Victor Alexander
Marcus Marshall

Love the other guys as well, but the skillsets of the guys above are the type of talent GT doesn't usually get on a regular basis. Those are type of talents if we can get regularly we will be playing for Championships pretty much every year with our coaching staff.

I see you have updated your star rankings for this class ;)

We also lost to North Carolina.

Did I say we wasn't going ? Do you have the flu ? I just think it's early to start saying those things.

I asked if you had a cold because you said, "We're startIG to sound like the mutts." It reads like a person would sound if they're congested.

The guys in this class with the best chance to play are wide receivers, B-backs and A-backs. With three departures each at WR and BB, those spots are wide open. Assuming our returnees are healthy in the Fall, we know who the starting A-backs will be.

I think Will Brian might get some time in a back-up role. I am not sure who it will be, but someone will have to take Nealy's spot. I doubt it will be a freshman. With JJ Green coming in and Hunt-Days likely back, I doubt we will see any of the freshman play much on D.

Not sure if you know this, but JJ Green is coming to GT to play running back. Also, he will not be eligible to play until 2016.

We also lost to North Carolina.

Thanks. This post may result from a reading comprehension problem If you look at what I posted again, you'll see that I wrote, "We won 11 games last year and could've/should've won the games we lost." By referring to "the games we lost," I was acknowledging (1) that we lost games and (2) that we lost games we could've and should've won.

So, I don't think your "also" in this post makes any sense. The only way losing to North Carolina could be an "also" to my post would be if you think that North Carolina was not a team that we could've or should've beat. However, I don't see any basis for that conclusion. They were not a great team, and it came down to the final drive.
