Yeah, this is the week no one is interested who the personnel are for the opposing team or who the backup quarterback is. We just want to see our OL work out some kinks, see King work on his pocket awareness and see if we can find a field goal kicker. Other than that we will wish for lots of subs to get plenty of game experience.

Nice to get a free win and get back on track. I hope we learned a lot from last week and go into Oxford sharp. Defense needs to step up big time in that game. They have one of the most explosive offenses in the country.

I hope our guys don’t take any win for granted.
After the second half of the Louisville game, I expect practices to be intense. The coaches are going to find tons of things to fix on film.

If this isn’t a focused week of practice, I’ll be shocked.

Plus, I’m sure the coaches are not only bringing up issues from our loss, but they’re also showing the Duke/Clemson game as an example of what a team with their act together can accomplish.

This week should be full of bulletin board material

I'm looking to see:
1. if the tackling improves
2. the pass rush shows up and gets home
3. if we're able to run the ball effectively.

All three should be easy based on talent level alone, but the past few years has taught me it's not always a foregone conclusion.

I'm not usually interested in seeing a blowout, but if this one isn't a blowout, we've got a problem. Our defense needs to come out of the gates with some resentment and anger. The OL needs to steamroll the D. The FG unit needs to make it. LFG!

Should be, but as we learned during the Collins era. Don't take that for granted

Hopefully, we won’t have to attempt FGs. After last week, we need to come out and steam roll this team. Even that won’t necessarily change any perception of our program yet. We’ll have to be in the game against OM, beat Wake, and stomp BG. SCSU is terrible. Anything less than 49-0 would be a bummer. But as a Tech fan, I fully expect a 37-14 type score.

Counterpoint: I hope we do attempt FGs. I don't need 7 more days of wondering whether we're going to spend another entire season throwing away half our points every time we get downfield. Stewart was 12/13 last year so he can make the kicks unless something has changed mentally with him.

-If King gets 3 td passes this game, he will have more in two games this year than any of our qb's did all of last year.
-If we score more than 30 pts, it will be our first time with back-to-back 30 point games since mid 2021

Lets set ourselves up nicely for Ole Miss, who will hopefully have a tough one vs. Tulane this week

↑This.

Stewart has shown he can make kicks. But even going into the first kick, the announcers pointed out that they had spoken to Brent Key, who had said Stewart was good up to 49 yards. And we put him in for a kick longer than that.

And the kick was true, just didn't have the distance.

So the first kick doesn't count in my mind. The second one was missed, and from 33 yards - but it was the first game, and every kicker should get a gimme. None are 100%. Even Butker had trouble between 30- and 40 yards initially, IIRC. Now, if Stewart starts consistently missing, or if those 1-2 "misses" get in his head, then we'll have issues. But for now, I think his record shows he can do it, and should have earned him a little leeway. (I sure as hell hope so, as we all lived through the post-Butker hangover with not having a consistent kicker. That sucked.)

Not that i want to see SC State stopping our offense but I think it would be great for him to get some kicks in this week
