Most teams play us in this formation with the middle linebacker about 5 or so yards back. I don't think it is that effective UNLESS you have an honest to God sideline to sideline killer on cleats (like Sean Spence with Miami a few years ago) who is athletic, easily avoids linemen, and plays the correct angles. I think most teams would be better off crowding the line of scrimmage and shooting gaps with safeties like Virginia Tech sometimes does with a variety of formations and moving defensive linemen around. But that's just my opinion. Others more knowledgeable may differ.
