A windy day that played hell with their kicking game more than ours. Overall a B.

ST helped us win but wasn’t the story. Not like the Blewitt from hell miss to lose the game for Pitt or may have cost us or Miami the ACCCG. Or the pathetic VT execution on returns where they were inside their 20 six times to start drives – on the 1 twice, 5 twice, 13 and 18. With an erratic gunslinger like Brewer they had to be real careful not to screw up. They were so risk adverse, they lost. And may have cost them a bowl game if they don’t win two of three

Butker wasn’t given the chance at a FG – CPJ went on 4th and 11 on the 27; which would have been a 44 yard FG attempt. Butker was only 2 for 5 in touch backs due to the wind. Two of the three returns were covered well, one had a 34 yard return to the 38. The UVa kicker had a TB and a 46 yard KO.

Rodwell had another great day. 3 punts. One for 54 yards that lost 6 yards on the return. One for 38 and one for 27 but to the 16 with a 1 yard return. Rodwell is very good and consistent. The UVa punter had 27, 37 and 51 yard punts. And Freeman showed great effort when he tipped one punt but didn’t get the full block.

One thing I’ve been thinking about mentioning is that our long snapper and holder are doing a damn good job. I don’t talk about them at all, which is the way you want it!

Nothing to write about in our return game except Golden muffed one and recovered it. With our O humming, I think preventing the fake and making the fair catch is a very good strategy.

We dominated in plays as usual with 76 GT offensive plays to 57 UVa offensive plays. This was just a game of simple domination in all aspects of the game. Very pleasant way to spend the afternoon (if you were inside.)

I was thinking the exact same thing before a punt during the game, that it's great when you never hear their names. Then I think Tobin got a false start. It didn't matter obviously I just thought it was funny/ironic at the time. He's actually pin point on his snaps most of the time.

And we're still #20 in ST by Football Outsiders ..... http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/feist

Not surprisingly, our FG efficiency is 100th. But I was surprised that our Kick Off Efficiency was 78th. I guess since our opponent usually starts at the 25 (Touch Back), and the CFB average starting position is about the 23 or 24, that we don't rate that well. But I'll take a TB every time. Bet Pitt wished they had them in the Duke game too.
